Help TrafficAppWidgetUpdateService

I can't seem to get this to stop running in the background after a restart. I have googled for similar issues and tried clearing cache and data but it still comes back. I have also tried uninstalling the map updates but no luck. The weird thing is I don't think I ever used the Traffic Widget? I did attempt to place it on my home screen to remove it but that didn't work either.

Anybody else see this before and-or know a fix?

I read the link but not sure what to do. Sounds like he fixed it by altering code

I just glanced over it tbh, like I previously posted, just disable maps from auto starting after boot with the Startup Manager, it just toggles whether you want a particular app to load after boot, you can still launch the app manually or go back in and toggle it to the original setting of starting on boot.

Is that the traffic thing that Google Now uses to tell you how much traffic you have on the way to work, or home? Did you tell Google now to give you traffic updates?

Thanks, I replied to that thread. I think my problem is the HTC EVO V 4G came with the Maps updated with the traffic widget because the upgrade to ICS. When I try to uninstall updates it still goes down to a version that had traffic widget, so it still starts it up. Like people said it uses about 8-11mb of memory and every bit helps, and installing a startup manager would probably add to it

It takes up a little over a meg of storage, and when you're done running it, it removes itself from memory. It's a regular app, you check what you don't want running on startup, close the app and reboot, all done. Also every little bit of unused ram is just wasted, if you have 100 MB free, that's plenty to prevent any lagging , forcing the phone to have more than that free is just wasting the ram that you paid for.

Thanks. Which startup manager creator do you use? I see there is a couple

Yeah, you can start there, I've disabled just about everything unless I know for sure that I need it anyway, like my widgets, launcher, TiBu, stuff that I'd have to launch anyway, everything else was gone. Helped my boot speeds also. I was surprised at how many apps set themselves up to launch on boot completion.

Well, I tried to disable maps, and it notified me that it failed to disable it after several reboot attempts. I double checked and the widget is still running. Nice app though for other things

Yup, pretty sure that it's a required component of the Play Store. As well as others like Google+ but it's probably the store that keeps reinstalling it.

Just ridiculous. Don't ever run this widget if you don't plan on using it because it will use resources like you're still using it
