Root [Sprint/Cricket] Sprint S3 Update on rooted phone won't update

It keeps asking to do a System Update. When I try to do it, it boots in to Clockword Mod and I try to run the update. It gets to updating flipboard.apk then fails. (Flipboard is installed)

Any help on what I can do?

Welcome to the forums! :D

As others mentioned, you dont want to take OTA updates on a rooted phone. I'd suggest flashing the stock rooted ROM to get your phone onto the most recent update

Also, Moving you on over to the sprint rooted forum where other rooted users will see it and assist :)

Follow the instructions in post 2, here: Your Way to Update to MB1 - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com

Note that you don't really need to do the factory reset step. Everyone who had done this without factory reset has been fine. But on the off chance your phone acts wonky after doing the flash, a factory reset can be done then.

^ while it could work not wiping, I'd definitely not recommend and say to do a full wipe even if going from one stock Rom to another.

Just saves headaches after the flash :)

If going from one rom to an updated version of the same rom you usually dont need to wipe data.

Do a nandroid first and try it out. If you get force closes or bugs just do a full wipe and reinstall the rom

I know dozens of people who have flashed to MB1 using this procedure without the factory reset. Me included. Definitely wipe cache and dalvik first, though. If you get bugs afterword, there's no need to reflash, just do the factory reset at that point.

Full wipe is just rule of thumb and common sense to avoid problems that we may run in to.

Won't change my mind about a full wipe ;)

Ok i'm trying to do this but when I go to move the md4 update over to the phone it tells me the device has been disconnected or has stopped working...

little help?
