Rooting Galaxy S II

I have a SGS II GT-I9100 running
Android version 2.3.5
running Kernel Version 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKI8-CL616395root@DELL149 #2

I have some questions:
*Beware of my noobiness*
I want to get root access and update to the latest STABLE Android firmware.
How and what are the risks? Can I go back?

THANKS! :D

Hello and welcome to the forums.

I have moved your post to the SGS2 all things root forum, where you'll probably get better help.

Hello WoodyBerlin!

:ahhhhh:

I want to get root access and update to the latest STABLE Android firmware.

Please read, carefully and thoroughly, posts #1 and #2 of the, "Rooting Galaxy S2 - Dummies Guide", which is designed and written for absolute beginners with no prior knowledge of Android phones and will answer all your rooting questions in the step-by-step guide, with videos, to rooting.

Currently, the latest and greatest, stable, version of Jelly Bean is NEAT ROM LSN which can be flashed after rooting.

How and what are the risks?

They are described in the guide. Biggest risk is not reading it carefully and thoroughly, as you will see from the thread.

Can I go back?

Yes, this is covered in post #2 of the guide.

Thanks alot mate. I know how to root my phone and I read everything. But I have one final question. If I want to use the NEAT ROM LSN which you said. All I have to do Is go to the Clockwork Recovery Mode (After rooting) and clear cache, and just install the firmware from the link you sent me? Thank you :)

As you will be making the jump from Gingerbread to JB, I would recommend the, "Installation with Full wipe:", shown, here.

Okay, thanks for the support!! So I root the phone. Download the firmware and do the steps.

I just save it in the root directory of the phone right?
