Root Porting ClockWorkMod to the Kyocera Rise

We need to convince virgin to unlock the bootloader not kyocera. Because kyocera is afraid of the contract violation.

Found another App that i wanted too share with our android pros here, that keeps your normal recovery for your phone but allows a second boot too load kernals & roms onto the phone too play with but ever actually hurting the phobe, thats what i get from it like dual booting one for your regular phone & the romloaded basically a whole other os off sdcard thats what read & get from it let me know if this sounds plausable for our device

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.drx2.bootmanager

Wanted to meantion it said superuser logging has to be disabled for this too work

Since the kyocera rise and hydro seem like brothers, can we get kyocera to unlock the bootloader for the cricket hydro and use it the same way. Just thinking out loud.

I'm not the give up kind of person but we tried everything and good job to everyone in trying.to get the Kyocera rises bootloader unlocked but it just wont happen :(

It's never over, if all else fails, ask for help
I know this devices boatloader is only accessed threw a software they will not release the name of.

Now I believe that it is a Odin3 type of software
That's why we're getting the

E:Cannot load volume /misc!

E: = drive (E: ) for USB connection

A couple of other devices have had this problem as well

My device is soft bricked, so I got a galaxy rush, but I will try flashing a custom ROM built for this phone or whatever recovery

I tried to revert back to stock and removed root, and it looped on the reboot, smh $130..............down the drain
Experience with this device, and being a SU.............. Priceless

I no this is the wrong thread but how can i bypass sprints hotspot check to use it for free on my rise...my friend had a evo on sprint and he had it for free...htc has unlocked bootloaders and free tether but Kyocera doesn't even have free hotspot tether.and don't say " this if the wrong thread" i already no sorry

Wrong thread, go create a new one. Saying "I already know its the wrong thead" does not excuse you.

this thread is fine just people thinking & investigating but for the meantime get a diffrent daily driver this was suppose to be a good learning exspierance for me with smartphones & it has taught me a lesson look for companys that will give access too bootloaders & research b4 you buy so i did learn & luckly i got a ics phone thats a descent budget phone that i got too play with and exspierment with alot , take that back my actual first smart phone was the Virgin Venture but i sold that too slow so ive got too play with gingerbread & ics skipping honeycomb , i played with other peoples who have had crapper phones so its been a good adventure for me ill keep the rise but it wont be my daily driver , cause i have faith that in enough time & enough will power , we will bypass it, but as much as i love too learn new things its dangerous for me too have this phone without a custom recovery too restore from i have bought 2 of them one for a gf & 1 for myself only i got the warrenty on mine so ive got too learn alot of what not too do type situations , & ive returned sevral rises bricked & just got new ones because of the warrenty i bought , now some people will say it voids your warrenty and will say alot of stuff but from what ive read its fine too root smartphones or jailbreak & ive had no issues talking to virgin mobile about my rooted phone when ive messed it up since then & ive had no problem bringing it back to geeksquad either where i orginally bought the phone , so all in all about 6 bricked kyocera rises and ive only bought 2 but only 1 was for myself , so i wont give up that the Head guys here will eventually crack it especially since i think the RISE & Hydro & Event once one of em goes unlocked bootloader itll be all 3 ported on our systems ,

too answer Trevon360, i use
wifi tether but theres other in fdroid /open source if you want u can get it from f-droid free , i also use f-droid too keep the adaway up too date since googleplay removed all ad removers they can find from the play store , i wont get on that topic cause some people believe in the ads too help pay developers & some dont believe they should be all that intrusive so i wont touch that subject with a 10 foot pole & make enemies on my feelings of the ads but f-droid does keep u up to date with the newest versions released & all apps are free cause it is opensource downloads,

Figured I'd post this, this guy claims he's flash captive roms on the Rise, idk how he's doing this or if its real but if he can do that I didn't wanna not say something for one of our guys here too catch him if there's something they need or would wanna request of him,

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39263818&highlight=kyocera+rise#post39263818

After reading closely, he's posting from his Rise, but he put the OS image on a Samsung Captivate- that image wouldn't even run or boot on the Kyocera Rise.

This phone is junk i hate it...all the other phones can tether freely without needing apps and have unlocked bootloaders and gets all the attention while this stupid phone had none of that and can't even stop freezing and turning itself off whenever it feels like it..i wish i would have bought this phone i would have thrown it to the wall

Wanted to let u guys know I still have the Rise its just no longer my daily driver radio shack has the HTC Evo 3d 4g on sale for 129 bucks plus 10.00 off next purchase at radio shack receipt , dual-core ,3d cam & its 4g & a Htc, check out their website because you can print that out or get a flyer & price match at @ bestbuy , Wal-Mart, if it locally radio shack doesn't have it , unfortunately I just found out about the sale yesterday, & it ends I think today so pick one up while you can guys,

So basically spend 99 for the rise or 120 for HTC Evo Sales good to 4/20/2013 in rooting now & have a Custom Recovery & feel so much better , but it's just safer until the Rise gets the bootloader unlocked , Once again i still Have my Rise just not my Daily Driver & don't give up Head android guys I still have faith in you

Aww this thread is dead? I just got a Kyocera Rise and rooted it. No wonder I can't find any custom roms LOL dang!! Is there anything I can do even though I have little knowledge of android and how it works under the hood? *sigh*

Hey guys the creator of 4ext recovery highly reccomend you guys request assistance from the people iam gonna link below, I gave my Kyocera Rise too my cousin today she's unable too afford her contract phone with sprint, hard times but thats off topic the creator dev of 4 ext recovery said these guys are the masters at unlocking devices bootloaders so if you contact them & make the product known to them & with android forum head guys approval if there willing link them too this thread they maybe able too assist you guys

Revolutionary

Madmaxx, the author of 4EXT recovery is correct that the Revolutionary team is one of the best at hacking bootloader, unfortunately they work predominantly with HTC devices and considering how few kyocera's were sold there's really not much interest in working on this project.

I my self have thrown in the flag, I bricked my Rize :( with no possible of unbricking  a while ago

Since then I have moved to the Samsung Galaxy Rush $99
ICS 4.0.4 with the promise of jellybean is in the near future :D

But it gets better
As there is also root, recovery, and a couple of custom ROMs
For this device
(PartyTime JBS by sckboy- Sickest ROM so far, wow), stock oxed and deoxed, (Blu Beta light & dark by Me :D) Super Helado..coming soon, with over 200mb free system space , with lots more to come...

I think that this is a great Phone, and a breath of fresh air from the Rize

Hope to see some of you guys around

Momentarily had mine unlocked but keyword is momentarily.Only sticks while phone is on when you turn it off in any way its bricks the phone.Due to forementioned not saying how I did that

Are they still $99? What're the hardware specs like? Screen res is mostly what I wanna know, for Ingress.

Check this out they managed to run cwm on a locked xperia z phone

Maybe we could modify this to work on this phone

Myformiscrack, you seem to know a bit more than I do about the phones internals.from what I can see, this places a recovery.tar in /system/bin and directs the system to load the recovery from /cache.that might be a clue.but on the flipside of the coin, what are the benefits of custom recovery on a locked bootloader?what I'm asking is,I'm terrible at bash scripting, but what if someone wrote a script that placed a temp recovery in a read/write directory like /cache,or /data/local/tmp,and then proceeded to direct the system to load the recovery from there as opposed to the one defaulted in /system/bin?then if we can get that recovery going,it may be a breakthrough for other options such as ROM,unlocking the BL etc.
