Best case for note 2?

Slim with protection (scratch and drop), easy in/out of the pocket, and kickstand - Seidio SURFACE aka Best Buy Platinum is your best bet. You can pick it up from Amazon for $20-$25 depending on the color.

Slim with a decent protection without kickstand - Case-Mate Tough. You might also want to check out Case-Mate Pop! which has a kickstand.

Seidio CONVERT has SURFACE as its inner layer so you can read that review to get an idea about SURFACE itself. Also, Tought and Pop! reviews available in there as well.
 
Awesome-exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for! I can get the surface shipped for $20 with amazon prime. My only reservation with that one is that it's in two parts so I'll do a bit more research on that this weekend. Thanks again!

While you are in amazon there just use the search term: galaxy note 2 case stand

I ended up going without a stand this time as I have a collection of Spiderpodiums, one of which I keep with me most of the time.

I did also see a tpu case that just had a raised slot you could wedge a coin in to use as a stand but didn't go for that myself as it did not cover the volume/power buttons. That is a requirement of mine with cases on the Galaxy range to reduce button sensitivity.

What I'll say is, I might be in front of the Sprint store to dump money down for the full price of the phone, but if budget prevents me from doing that, I'll just be preparing my upgrade for 2014, when Samsung will hopefully have figured out how to get the folding concepts w/ flexible screen out to market! And hopefully, I can still get a good amount of money back for my Note 8.0 by that time (either that, or the Note 8.0 will be used for a bigger project...e.g., custom in-dash dock w/ ICE, aka In Car Entertainment).

I'll miss you all! At this moment I don't see myself getting the Note 3. I'll just wait for something like an update to pump this forum back to life. This phone works very well for me and my current needs. (I mean it)...

Mine does too but that doesn't stop me from fantasizing. :p
I've said from day 1 this phone "could" last me 2 yrs and honestly if I did keep it that long that would also be a 1st considering how fast phones bore me.
 
I'm not moving to the N3. I am waiting for the S4 to come out so the price of the N2 will come down so I can get another one. Mine has a broken screen and I will keep it as a backup. I still love my N2. Besides that, I have so many accessories for my N2. The only thing I found interesting about the N3 is that it supposedly has an unbreakable screen. I could use that...

It was in a wallet case that didn't cover the top or bottom. I had it in my purse on my shoulder and it fell out and hit the driveway when I bent over. It must have impacted on the bottom right corner. The chrome ring was dinged and the lower right screen cracked. Still works fine. Could have been worse.

Sorry, Corki2. Yes, I remember you posted about it here and at XDA (I'm under "vectron" in there), explaining to others who were saying that slim cases with a typical top/bottom opening are OK. With phone like Note 2 you are playing russian roulette without proper protection.

Regarding Note 3 I heard a rumor about Gorilla Glass 3 as well, but even Corning admitted that nothing is indestructible. Even with my review of VITREO tempered glass, you get protection from direct face impact of the glass, but in the scenario with your drop of the phone hitting the corner and impact force distributing sideways - even the most expensive tempered glass wouldn't save it :( Needs all around bumper protection with a decent lip. With so many cases I have, I only counting now on UAG which is my exclusive stay-on case. When the weather gets warmer outside, I will go as far as carrying my Note 2 inside of CONVERT holster and UAG case lol!!! I'm paranoid!!!! lol!!!

As much as I love the idea of the wallet cases with snap-out cases for holding just the phone (like the Spigen Snap or the Verus Two Way case), they just don't seem to offer nearly enough protection. Stories like yours frighten me away from the wallet cases.

My compromise is to use a CaseMate Tough for good protection without adding too much bulk. Then, when I'm out and about, the phone with case fits perfectly inside a Coach Zippy Wallet. The Coach wallet is a wristlet with card slots. This way I get wallet functionality but the phone is well protected. It's slightly bulkier than one of the wallet cases, but not by too much.

Awww sorry that happened to you.
I recently dropped my phone and watched it land on one corner and bounce to another.
Mine is in the hardshell Samsung case and fortunately nothing happened; no screen crack, not even a mark on the actual case.

The drop was avoidable had I just slipped it into my pocket as I normally do instead of thinking I could juggle a handful of stuff.

Remember my couple of drops that realistically could've shattered the screen? No case, but boy was I a lucky SOB! Knock on wood!...Better believe I've been way more careful ever since and am lucky I just have a few chips on the side bezel and not the screen!
 
So my new u.a.g case just came in and I am impressed with it so far I have always had tpu cases ive had otter box cases also and did not like the rubber so after reviews and reading I picked it up and I like all of the buttons are covered amd work nice....so if you are in the market check it out....
