I'm not a rep, but I know the answer. You can preorder it and not worry about what number you plan to use it on. When it comes in and you activate it you can then easily transfer the number either on that same call or on line. It takes about a minute to swap numbers. Verizon does a very good job at making things as easy as possible for their customers to do these types of things themselves, IMHO.
 
For some reason, i wish we could go back to yesterday, before this news was confirmed, when everyone was antsy and grabbing every morsel of info they could get.... I hope no one forgets the long road it took to get here...You guys all ROCK!
 
I've never bought a phone online so I have a question..

When the D.I is delivered on the 29th what do I have to do to activate my phone so it is functional in every way (calling, texting, data)

Also, is the only way to transfer my contacts and pics from my DUMB PHONE to the D.I to take it into a Verizon Store and have it done by cellebrite machine?

I think I need to talk to a verizon rep to see if I can upgrade. I can not wait to rub this into my iphone friends nose. He think that thing is gold and the best thing since sliced bread, but now he will finally get to see something better!

You can dial a number (*228 2, I think) and it will activate OTA.

You should be able to use backup assistant on both devices.

You can back up your contacts online at the verizon website and, when you get the Incredible, just download them to your phone.

For pics, if you already have microSD card, just put them on the card and then put the card in your new phone.
 
i don't want more news. I want a time machine to take me to the 29th so i don't have to wait anymore
