Root [MetroPCS/CDMA] Few Questions...

Fredccs

Newbie
I have a few questions that im hopping to get answers to, here they are.

I heard metropcs doesn't allow flashing of phones from other carriers anymore, why is that ??

Also read somewhere that metro will be getting the Galaxy S4, and a filling has been made with the FCC for it, does anyone know a time frame ??

fcc filings are done fairly clos eto launch, judging by most carriers releasing in the next month or so id wager before june we will have the sgs4 on metro.

and metro only ever let you flash to gain customers. now with 4g the technologies are far too different to offer those claims, it was a nice deal but had to end someday

Shabby by what I have been reading my question is; is it worth jumping to the GS4 ??, I mean the GS3 will get the same software update as the GS4 withing a few months, only difference really is that it will be a quad core ???

  • Newer and faster cpu.
  • better cores so battery life is even better.
  • jump from 720p screen (306PPI pentile) to 1080p (441p) so images are clearer and sharper
  • Basic built in color control (something i terribly miss from previous samoled screens)
  • bigger battery
  • bigger screen
  • comes with 4.2 and will get KLP much faster
  • has all the new features (sure some of them will get ported over, but look at the premium suite. that got pushed back and doesnt even contain all the new note 2 features)

im sure there is even more i am missing. sure the sgs3 has been promised to get some of teh cool features, but we were also promised to get multiview with 4.1, the updates will go slower no matter what because of metropcs. a lot of sgs3 owners dont consider this a great upgrade, but they are going for them. this is an amazing upgrade for anyone on a sgs2. the dev community already has root for it it will have just as much support (if not maybe more) as the sgs3. it will have recovery the day it comes out and aosp not long after.

the only reasons why i can see people not wanting to wait to get the sgs4 are these:

  • Cost (it will be more expensive than buying a SGS3)
  • Budget (if they only have 200...)
  • They hate samsung devices
  • They have a SGS3 and don't feel comfortable dropping another 500 on a newer phone.

if i were you id hold off the sgs4 is going to be great, if you guys dont have twrp and cwm teh day it comes out then pm me and ill whip it up for yall real quick

I hear ya but another 5 bills....ouch!! Coming from the Esteem to the SG3 I feel was worth the $$ which is why I took the plunge but is the SG4 going to be that much better than the SG3?

I personally will not upgrade. When I had the esteem I couldn't wait for something better and hopped on the connect as soon as it came out. The connect was an improvement but there were too many compromises. Now with the s3, is probably the first phone I've really been happy with. No complaints so I'll be staying with it. At least, if or when the note 3 comes. Muahahaha

if you have the S3 i say stick with that.

if you're deciding whether to get the S3 or wait on the S4 i say wait.

priorities priorities some will get it a launch day... but im not sure if i need to break the piggy bank again lol even if it came with the pie still dont see the need for me to upgrade right away. see we been brainwashed all of us to follow the latest and newest tech and we cant help it!!!!!!! i think we should make a council group just for people that cant help buying such devices without really needing it lol we can sit in a circle and share testimonies and pass out tissues and what not......on the other hand eh screw it im buying that gs4!! could be worse... atleast im not an addict lol!

My prior phone was the Samsung Admire so this is a heck of a upgrade. I am happy with my s3 maybe in year or so will upgrade it. But with all the support and roms and stuff all is good.
Thanks to all the Debs that have taken care of us and our device.
