Help Error while updating my SGS 2 4.0.3

Hey folks,

Samsung Kies giving me this error message " Failed to run firmware upgrade. Unknown error occurred " while trying to update the firmware of my SGS 2. I dont find an OTA update though.

My phone details are:

PDA: I9100JPLPF
Phone: I9100XXLPX
CSC: I9100JPLPC

Current Firmware Ver: PDA:LPF / PHONE:LPX / CSC:LPC (XSG)

Latest Firmware Ver : PDA:LSD / PHONE:LS8 / CSC:LS6 (XSG)

When i tried the same in another PC, it started downloading the upgrade components and half the way Kies disappears. i tried many times, but kies disappears somewhere in the middle of the process.

Can anybody help me get it done? Please.....

Hello and welcome to Android Forums Jeticson! :)

You can download and flash the update manually for your CSC code using Odin and carefully reading and following the instructions in #1.1 and #1.7, here.

Cudn't find a JB update for my CSC. :(

But still i dont understand whats tht update tht kies giving me a message about. :confused:
 
Can you suggest me a JB manual update for my phone to flash using ODIN please?

Am quite confused of selecting the right one. :(

The latest firmware showing for CSC code OJP is ICS, Android 4.0.4. This was the update from Android 4.0.3 that you were receiving. No JB update has been released so far.

It really depends on the language pack that you require, see #1.1.

The OJP CSC code uses the JP language pack which contains...

JP = ar,en,fr(fa,ur)

This CSC code, OJV, has the language pack JV...

JV = en,fr,pt,tr(ar,de,es,fa,it,nl)

Since i am here in Middle East, OJV is the common language pack used here. So i guess, i can go on with the manual update with this firmware. Its 4.1.2, sammobile says. :)
If thts the case, i would request you to give me the link to the tutorial of Manual Update using Odin since i really can't figure out which one to use out of the million tutorials available on the net
Sorry, :( I crawled again thru 1.7# :)
 
Finally, am done with a 4.1.2 manual update. Didn't face any probs. :)

Even after doing a manual update, will i still get the updates in the normal way?? I mean OTA or thru Kies??
 
Dear All Im unable to update my S2 to jelly bean getting following error again and again, tried several times. My S2 is made in Vietnam and my brother brought it from OMAN....

Looking at the above, you are already on the latest firmware for your CSC code, OJP.

You could, however, flash the newly released Indian firmware for Jelly Bean, I9100XWLSK, by carefully reading and following the step-by-step instructions with pictures and video shown in link #1.7 of the Jelly Bean update - Dummies Guide. Use the firmware I have just linked you to.

Please note the warning in that item...

If its latest firmware then why its showing as "new fiemware available" when i connect my device via kies....... Latest firmware in the sense the Jelly Bean is not released for the CSC code or what......??????

Jelly Bean has currently NOT been released for that CSC code... which may, or may not, be the phone's original CSC code. See #1.5 and #1.6 of the Jelly Bean update - Dummies Guide. The update referred to, which you cannot, it seems, get via Kies, could be an ICS update to Android 4.0.4 for your original CSC code.

My post #21, details how to flash the firmware. As for risk, there is always a small element of risk when updating firmware. Whether it be by Kies, OTA or Odin. Dude shall i wait for jelly bean for that CSC code......it means jelly bean is not released in that country right....???
Secondly if i want to do it manually,which country`s firmware is best....????
