There is a feature on our smartphone that causes the screen to go blank when making a call (like when you put it up against your ear). However, my phone defaults to this feature as soon as I press the call button, and before I've even begin to put it up to my face. This is a problem for the following reasons: 95% of the time I use the speaker phone (but don't get a chance to choose that option before the screen blacks out), and when I try to turn the screen back on using the power button (so that I can choose speaker phone) it's 99% of the time non-responsive, and stays off. My remedy is to try and trick the phones light sensor by covering it up, and then uncovering it, making it think that it was up to my face and then away from it so the screen then turns on so I can press the speaker phone. However, this trick doesn't always work right away, and I find myself having to start calls the old fashioned way. Then through trial and error, after beginning the conversation I can get it to speaker, but this usually make an awkward start for my conversations on my end, even if my recipient is unaware of it. The LG Motion always turned the screen back on (after an auto-off) during phone calls when I'd press the power button, but this Spirit has a spirit of its own.
