Random Thought Thread

No big deal. If they do I'll shift to something else, and put it on my tab. So long as I can function, I have the option for control. Anything else I can return, I'll just follow the arrows.

I want to play with one of these:

Like the one I played with? :)

They are not as cool as you may think. Takes serious patience to operate smoothly.

You must explain the relationship between the tool on the front (the giant honkin' circular saw blade) and the tool on the back (grading blade). I'm just curious.

That is a utility machine. Really small but very powerful. The blade makes it useful in a pinch to grade with and also for leveling the machine in a tight spot. I honestly don't use the blade much for actual dirt moving, but constantly for making myself more level. The blade was used to cut through the rock layer of a key wall on the dam I'm working on. We had to remove the stone because it is a restoration and they needed to be replaced with the correct ones after the anchors were drilled into the pockets we made.

Oh, sneak another pic in after i quote you.:p I thought is was for cutting forestry products, not stone. I never cease to be amazed by the utility of those mini excavators.

Thanks for the explanation 330:thumbup:

It's not very mini... I think it's close to 30k lbs.

Heeeeyyyy 330, I didn't know you were an operator. That is a really cool attachment you have there. I dare to say that is the largest concrete saw I've ever seen. I inspect roadway construction for PennDOT, so I get to see a lot of really neat equipment.

I'll post up a pic or two of some bridges we built a few years back, if I can find em. Really cool cantilevered form system for placing the concrete. Let me dig em up. :)

EDIT:

Here are a few:

Since this became the random thought (and cool work picture) thread... this picture is actually at the top of the key wall that I was sawing in the previous post. We had to take 20 feet off the top.
