Pretty much the same thing with me. I am going to buy the best after market seido (whatchamakallit) battery that doesn't make the phone look pregnant.

I'm going with the 1 year contract and price. Never again will I get stuck in a 2 year contract. I mean the phone is obsolete in 8 months anyways.

It's actually a two year but my best friend was able to get the droid and he was in the exact same boat as me.

BUT (my personal opinion disclaimer)
If you don't have a smart phone and plan on getting a Andriod, I would set up a GMAIL account now and put all my contacts in there, when you sync your new phone it will pull them down. This way you can set-up names/numbers/e-mail they way you like, on a full keyboard.
I actually sync my Winmobile phone with Gmail, so when I get my new phone it should just pull my contacts down.

I'm not entirely sure what the requirements are for this, but even though I'm under a two year contract, I'm eligible for an annual upgrade. I think you have to spend above a certain amount on your service and have a My Verizon account if I remember correctly. Also, it's only valid on the primary line.

When I got the first Storm (ugh) I worked with a Verizon rep who helped me get the phone at a new contract price instead of the whole retail price (I wasnt due for an upgrade for another month or two). So talk to the reps and hopefully you find one thats willing to help you out.

Personally, I've always been of the philosophy that I really don't care what other people's phones do. I just want to be happy with what mine does. That's why I've not owned a smartphone yet. If I'm going to pay the additional premium for a data plan I want the phone to act how I want. This phone is what I've been waiting for and I'm going to be totally content with it regardless of how technology advances.
Not to say I won't like or want whatever comes out, but my phone won't be obsolete in 8 months. Not to me, anyway. And isn't that all that really matters?

I'm sorry, yes. You are eligable for an upgrade in October. You just won't have the NE2 available to factor in at all (I'm in the same boat). But the advice is pretty much the same. They probably won't consider fudging the upgrade date outside of 2 months out.

I havent heard about spending a certain amount on service before. But I have a My Verizon acct and the primary line and due for NE2, so I cant see a reason why I wouldnt be able to get the phone on a 1 year contract.

Since we have about 2 weeks (seems like we can never rid that term) of waiting left, I've decided to use my time in a couple of different was. 1) to say my long-awaited goodbyes to my BB Storm; 2) since Android is new to me, to start researching applications that I want to download to the Incredible once I get it in my hands the 29th.

My wife just shot down any plans of me going to the a BBM in the Chicago vicinity (4 hours away). Something about hers and her brother's birthdays or something. I tried to explain how Incredible this phone would be, but I don't think she understands. She just got an Eris and says I should just get one of those.

'N" is the current "fastest" wifi protocol.
it hasn't completely replaced "G" yet but its getting there.

Check out Find great Android apps and games - AppBrain. You can create a list of apps there and once you get your phone you can sync that list to you phone to allow quicker access to installing the apps. My list is already up to 50+ apps.
2 minutes from the N. Olmsted store... I'll be there at opening on Sunday and give you guys the scoop as soon as I get home... I'll give you the scoop via the Incredible if it's available to take home at that time
