Why did you choose The DNA?

I've had my HTC DNA for about a month now and absolutely love it. There are some flaws with it, but overall for it being my first phone that is entirely up to date with the newest phones it's made me want to post this.

I had a choice between the iPhone4S with Apple care ($200) The Galaxy S3 ($200) or the HTC DNA ($200). I didn't choose the 4S because I'm become so used to Android with my HTC Evo Shift, and Android software has only gotten better since then. I didn't get the Galaxy S3 mainly because it's design was so "blah" and "boring", also everyone else I knew had an S3...the DNA however caught my attention with it's red and flat black design, I was used to using HTC software, and it had similar specifications to the S3. So after a month of waiting and got the approval from my boyfriends mom to go on their plan, I got it. Don't regret it at all. The only way I'd trade this phone is if I could somehow get the HTC One for trade+some cash, and got it on Verizon with insurance.

I am an HTC fan, having previously had the Inc2 and the Inc4G, and wanted something with a bigger screen. I tried the RAZR MAXX HD and hated it, so right back to HTC I came. Great phone, but like you said, it does have a few [minor] flaws.

What minor flaws are you thinking of? Because the flaws I can think of are no external storage, and doesn't have mini HDMI (it's a 1080p capable phone, it should have this).

Im a huge HTC fan myself and i love the styling of the phone and most importantly the specs were top of the line for sure at the time. It had everything I wanted out of a phone. I gave a slight thought to a galaxy s3 before i officially saw a DNA in pictures, but having messed with a few of them i decided id rather chance waiting for the DNA since frankly Samsung phones do nothing for me, feel so cheap and UI is awful. I couldnt be happier with my choice. Its by far the best android phone Ive used.

Those, plus the battery is a little small, the back is way to easy to scuff up, and the phone doesn't play well with wifi all the time. Not all wifi networks, but sometimes it seems to go into a sleep mode when the screen is off.

EDIT: Oh, and the stupid charger port door and the SIM card error.

I picked up the DNA recently to use as a business phone since it was only 50 bucks through Amazon/best buy price match. For the price it's a great phone and I see why everyone here is happy with it. I won't be switching it with my note 2 on my personal line due to the limited storage and battery life (and the screen size of the note has me spoiled,) but the radios are right up there with the note and it flat out flies so it is perfect for what i need it for. As soon as HTC makes a 5"+ phone with more storage i would love to give them another go as my everyday phone.

I've had mine since February. I think this is by far the best phone I've had. I love the look of it (and red is my favorite color). I debated between the Razr Maxx HD, Samsung S3 and this. I went into Verizon and played with each phone. Didn't care for the S3, and wanted to move away from Motorola.

The only downside I have seen is the cover door (which I have removed, because it never did fit right and was hard to open). Storage doesn't bother me. Mine is nowhere near to filled up. I sync my gallery with Dropbox, then delete them off the phone.

This is my first HTC phone, and if/when this ever dies, I'd definitely consider another HTC. My previous smartphones were all Motorola. On each of those, I had another launcher, but I like Sense.

The two best Verizon phones available at the time were the DNA and the Note 2. The Note 2 is too big and just felt flimsy in the hands to me compared to the DNA, so I went with it instead.

Another thing about Samsung is that their current mainstream phones (S3, Note II and S4) feel really cheaply made. HTC went for a more durable feeling phone which is a big concern for a lot of people who buy phones.

Yeah, I mess with my Mom's S3 every once in awhile and I really dont like the build quality. Feels so cheap compared and frankly looks very cheap.

S3 and Note 2 are very nice phones, but do feel a bit cheap at times considering the hardware they pack inside. I have only had my DNA for a week and a half but am pleased so far. I couldn't justify waiting for the S4.

I have to admit, I was won over by the specs and the nice screen; the fact that it rarely if ever crashes is a huge bonus. I wore out two snap-together cases in short order on my original Galaxy S because I was having to remove the battery 2-3 times a week. It was forever needing "fixing" in that respect, even in full stock form.

It's a bit disappointing that the software (or internals) aren't as well thought out as the exterior design. Things like the SIM issue and the flaky wifi can be a bit of a headache, but overall I'm rather happy with it and hope the latest SIM OTA update fixes the one major issue this phone has.

The LG Optimus and Motorola Droid Razr HD were the nearest competitors at the time. I thought the Motorola was fine for a basic phone, but its specs weren't quite top notch; the LG only lost due to being uncomfortable to hold for me. The DNA is wider but not as squared off in the corners. I can't quite make full use of the screen holding it in one hand, but that's a minor issue.

It saddens me that the DNA has apparently been a huge flop for Verizon. If the SIM issue is truly fixed I think it's still one of the top three phones available now on any carrier.

Its weird, my friend got a DNA same day as me. He has huge issues with sim card/data connections (which Ive told him to try swapping the sim card but he hasnt yet) but I havent had a single issue with data or sim card ever. Never lost connection or anything. Frankly this phone hasnt even given me a single lock up or hiccup at this point. Been absolutely perfect in every aspect. I couldnt be happier with my personal experience.

So I'm new to the DNA. Just got it today. I had a note 2 and after only having it for two weeks I took off in my car with it on the roof . So needless to say it was ruined with no insurance. I loved that phone. So I used my last upgrade and got the DNA and yes I have only had it a couple hours but I really like this phone a lot. It's not so big that I can't handle it with one hand and the screen is amazing. The only downfall is it came upgraded to the 2.04 update so no root for me till the wonderful devs figure it out. All in all I just really like this phone. My input. Thanks.

I got my DNA on launch day upgrading from an og Incredible. The reasons I chose this phone are this...
It's an HTC
1080p screen
Quad core processor
Camera
