Is wiimax still unlimited or is it throttled?

Me neither, but....

Virgin Mobile recently had an update that throttles Wimax to 2.5 gb. Their service now tracks data (its about time ).

.... doesn't mean it will throttle wiimax. It might just only throttle 3g. I kinda don't see how sprint is gonna throttle it anyways since its CLEAR's towers and sprint phones just have access to them. Anyone who tethers their phone daily chime in and answer? Welp if they do then I'm probably gonna switch to tmobile $30 plan. They may leave it alone simply because its a dead network since sprint users are getting their upgrades to LTE devices.

Well, I can confirm that you DO get throttled after going over 2.5 GB of data using WiMAX. It just happened to me yesterday.

Fortunately, my bill was almost due, so I just went ahead and made my payment. Then I called Virgin Mobile Customer Service to restart my plan afterwards in order to get back to full speed.

What are your speeds after getting throttled?

did you get a text message at 80% data usage?

Yep, I did. While waiting for comcast to finish an install last week, I tethered as I work from home. I received the 80% warning. Luckily, comcast was done and I no longer had to tether.

I did get the warning text though.

ah okay, im probably gonna switch to t-mo sometime for at least then I can use a nexus. Zero point in staying with VM anymore then.

Yeah, that's a good idea if you're a heavy data user. 5 gigs and 100 minutes for $30 is a screaming deal if you don't need the minutes.

However, if you regularly go over 5 gigs...you'll be in this boat again. You may want to consider Sprint if your data usage is such that unlimited data is a good idea.
