True enough! I had that in mind actually for the next build - removing what I can of Google, outside of the Play Store itself. As for encrpted SMS, there's Gibberbot in the last build, but I'm planning on adding an encrypted phone calls app as well - and I've seen some burner-phone apps that use a temporary number for phone calls (one of which is touted by Android Police), and I'll be looking into adding one of those as well.
 
I'm not seeing the "In The Clear" apk that you mentioned was included. I just extracted the data/app folder from the rom zip to see if I wanted to add anything to cyanogenmod :eek:
Can't find that one though.
 
I know security =/= ease of use, so dropping google entirely is a challenge, but I think even the play store requires too much in terms of personal data tracking. There are other app store alternatives, and apps like App Update Notifier can help keep people abreast on the latest.

I'd also like to reccoment LBE Security Master, It can control everything from specific permissions on a per ap basis to call and sms blocking and logging. It gives a very finite control over what apps can and can not do on the phone, which I think is a must for a security centered rom. From what I've read, even though it has it's own firewall it pairs nicely with droid wall too.

Hmm, it should have been there. My apologies that it wasn't included! Upon further investigation, the app is two years old and installs itself in /mnt/asec. Not good. As such, it won't be in the next build either, but I'll be on the lookout for similar apps.

Thank you! And I agree, there is a lot of data going out to Google. It'll certainly be a project, that's for sure, and there'll need to be a lot of app replacements. As for the apps you mentioned, both of those will be included, as well as an older version of NoteCipher from The Guardian Project (that ported TOR to Android), which is an encrypted notepad for Android (of course). The reason it has to be an older version, is because it received an update that bumped the requirement up to Honeycomb instead of Gingerbread. I'll also be including a burner-phone app that gives you one free number to use.

EDIT: v2.0.1 is up. It's just a simple apps update this time:

What's up with all these different ways to show rom versions... I mean come on, 2.0.0.0.0.0.0.1?...... And multiple decimals? Lol. Why not just v2.01 or v2.1 or v1..2..3 etc.?
Nah.... v10.0.9.3.2.1 sounds way more intriguing:p

The reason for that can be summed up easily in one simple word: Funzies. :D
I typically base the version numbers on the type of update; generally, smaller updates get smaller version number increases, and larger updates dictate a larger version number increase. I've just always felt that that made more sense.
