Metro PCS Easy Wifi symbol

When I turn off the wifi, the metro pcs easy wifi symbol stays on in the upper left. Usually I have to turn it on and off several times to make it go away. Has anyone else experienced this and if so, is there a fix?

Yup. Best fix. Get rid of it LoL. Root your phone and install Katana ROM by GT. :D

I too would suggest rooting and removing it, but if that's an option, you can go into settings/apps/metro Wi-Fi then clear data and force stop, that should get rid of the icon. Be sure to set your Wi-Fi setting to not alert when access is available and do the same in metro Wi-Fi or it'll just keeping popping up. Now it might pop back up every once in a while, when it does just clear data and force stop the app again..

That app nearly ruined my experience with this device until I did a Root, which was easier than I thought it would be.

Now I don't have that stupid, useless app ruining my web browsing and usage of this device any longer.

Root it and get rid of all the battery-draining bloatware as well as the bloatware that is taking over your phone.

This crap is like RealPlayer - it's not an app, it's a virus that invades and embeds itself in your phone.

Hopefully you go the rooted route, and be part of the cool kids club! When you feel comfortable enough after root look into flashing roms, and give GT's katana rom a go, it'll bring a whole new feel to the phone..

I rooted it. But it was odd. After the root everything was working fine. Then I restarted the phone and an LG Security Error screen came up and I couldn`t do anything. I eneded up having to unroot it... did I do something wrong I wonder?

What else did you do before restarting the phone? Rooting by itself shouldn't cause that.

Try again, and make sure you use Titanium Backup from the Google Store for deleting/freezing/uninstalling bloatware.

It cost a few bucks, but it's well worth it.

I don't think the Spirit will let you actually Delete or Remove any Bloatware without this app, but I'm not sure.

I deleted some of the bloatware. Only thing I can think of is maybe I deleted something I shouldn`t have.

There is a sticky in the all things root section that's lists the apps you can't delete, just freeze those apps if you don't want them.
