So i installed the latest WiFi Tether for Root Users and tested with both 3g and 4g. This test was indoors. BIG diff...

This starts from the bottom up so....

Hello JupiterOne.

Are you saying "WiFi Tether for Root Users" works on non-rooted devices too?

Hello JupiterOne.

Nope! Just saying it worked fine with a rooted one. I see lots of threads for this device that can't tether or having problems so i thought i would report my experience.

P.S. sorry if i was confusing but the title of the app kinda gave away the 'Root Users' part.

Now this works without us being charged by Virgin right? I dont even think they support that on this device thinking about it, but I'm coming from the Evo V where we had to change settings and be kinda careful so we didnt get charged. Thanks for the report as well by the way!

How would they charge you? I don't see how!

Well the site has an option (With the Evo V at least) to sign up to use the stock tethering app that they put on the phone for like $15 a month extra I think. There was a way to use a different app though and you had to change some settings for it to work. I just read it all, I didnt actually use it. I'm guessing they dont offer that with this phone so we must be in the clear. I'll have to install that app then :)

Just curious, what tethering settings are you using? I can't seem to get any device to even SEE a WiFi tether from my VM Victory

Edit :Got it working

Since it hasn't been mentioned out-right yet, and I'm sure this is probably a point of confusion for some people who are looking around, just as I was...

If you open WiFi Tether for Root Users, you can select the profile for the Samsung Galaxy S3 in the drop-down list at the top of the app and it creates an infrastructure mode hotspot. (The type that you can connect any device to)
