Switching to s2

Coming from rooted lg marquee; soon buying s2 for boost. Heard from sprint salesmen that s2 battery causes issues and eventually brick. Any truth to this? By far s2 seems best option for upgrade on boost plan. I'd like to have any opinions before I drop cash on a new s2. Thanks in advance for your advice.

The problem is that the Samsung galaxy s2 is already 2 years old and that is why the battery is so screwed up unless you purchase a third party made. LG Marquee to S2 is certainly not much of an upgrade, honestly speaking. You would be better off with an LG optimus or an xperia as it's price is around the S2 price.

Have not heard about a battery bricking issue.

There was a memory bricking issue that I believe was corrected by Samsung over a year ago.

When you say it's not much of an upgrade how do you mean? Rear camera goes from 5 mega pixels to 8, processor goes from single to duel, and screen size increases(I think). With the xperia or optimus how are they better than s2 other than age?

The worth of the phone and also the support from manufacturers. When I say support, I am referring to the updates the phone may receive from the manufacturer.

I don't even see the optimus or experia available on boost mobile website. As far as updates I don't see anything wrong with running jelly bean. Thanks for your input.

ive had the marquee i now use the s2 i had the marquee overclocked to 1400 running ct mod this phone blows the doors of the marquee right out the box. we just got the jellybean update. the brickbug was not a battery issue. i would do it again.

Yeah, the dude that told you about the battery bricking the phone is highly misinformed and should not even be working in that field.

I've used the Marquee for while I was awaiting my S2 to come in the mail.
Once I received and played with it. I passed down my Marquee to my sister. I will never look back.

Well, the last ICS update sometimes causes an S2 to crash frequently, similar to if it has a defective battery - I could imagine a sprint rep spewing some bad information that covers up the FL24/FL27 crashing issue. But yeah, if you run FL24 on your S2 it might shut itself off from time to time and make you have to remove the battery to reboot it. Luckily there is an official JB build that works just fine.

Yeah. Saw you over on the marquee forums. Blows the doors off ct mod? I won't tell blood dawn you said that. Lol. J/k. Running megatron myself. Hopefully get s2 soon. Thanks for the input.

I went from marquee to HTC then got this s2 and I think by far this is the best and don't really think I will ever want to have anything but Samsung right now anyways. This phone blows marquee out the water Imo.

Got my new s2 yesterday. Installed stock jellybean. Love everything so far. Only major issue is battery life. Has drained 11 percent in 30 minutes. Any advice on what to do would be appreciated.

for non root Adjust screen brightness (it has a very healthy appetite), also keep GPS and Bluetooth off unless you are actively using them. If in network settings the connections optimizer is on then uncheck it, and keep WiFi off unless using it. Getting DS Battery saver Pro from the Play Store helps too.

If Rooted, then in addition to the above get rid of all the bloatware apps as well.

Thanks codegerm. I'll mess around with rooting this weekend. My only cocern with rooting is it messing with my 4g connection speeds. In my area only verizon wireless has 4g lte towers. Will my 3g speeds stay unaffected if rooted with stock jellybean? Saw in root guide how to root with jellybean. Is anyone working on a one click root that you have heard of? I'll try your battery saving suggestions. Thanks again.

Well you can't use the AGAT 0.6.8 kernel for your Rooting on JB, but the one from the SXTP site will work and it doesn't bork your data. I get good 3g speeds at near 2Mbps. With that kernel you also get a custom recovery that allows you to make a backup.

So I've rooted my phone but no custom rom yet. Had an issue tonight with Crackle app. Would watch a show for about 5 minutes when phone screen would go blank. Sound would stay on and sound would still be going. I couldn't do anything except hold power button for reset. Anyone know what could have happened? I did a factory reset and I hope that sets things right. I am considering installing cm10 "wild for the night" but won't have a chance until next week. Any advice would be awesome.
