Their pre orders are ONLY in store correct? Wondering because my local best buy does not sell verizon phones- just not in a popular verizon area, so I wouldn't be able to do it. It'd be nice if you could do it online... but I can wait til Monday, no biggy.

Then again, the emails that people, including me, are getting now when you sign up for the pre order stuff on verizon, say pre ordering starts tomorrow the 18th... so who knows

THE NEWEST DROID COMBINES ANDROID 2.1 WITH
THE SOPHISTICATED SIMPLICITY OF HTC SENSE.
IT'S A PHONE THAT SEEMS TO DO EVERYTHING, WITH A 1 GHZ PROCESSOR, 8GB ONBOARD MEMORY*
AND 8 MEGA- PIXEL CAMERA. AND IF YOU CAN FIND SOMETHING IT DOESN'T DO, PICK UP ONE OF 30,000
APPS IN THE ANDROID MARKET THAT WILL.
PRE-ORDER ONLINE ONLY STARTING APRIL 18TH.

You will either 1. pick it up in-sotre, or 2. have it shipped to your house. You have to chose at the time of signing.

To those pre-ordering from bestbuy, you might want to reconsider. i got this when i emailed bestbuy customer service or whatever it is, here's a quote.

As far as the process goes, you would have to go in on the 18th or later, and pay a $50 refundable deposit. That preorders ensures that you are in line to get the Incredible. On the 29th when the phone is released, you would need to go back to the store to pick up the phone. The preorder that you place puts you in a line to get the Incredible. So, for example, if the warehouse ships the store 15 phones, and there are 20 preorders and you were preorder #5, you're going to be one of the first to get the phones, where as those who placed preorders 16-20 would have to wait a bit longer. Now, this is just an example, and can vary from store to store, but in general, this is how the preorder process works.

Not to be argumentative, but look at the patents Apple is going after HTC for already. They're broad in a lot of cases, and ridiculous in others. It reminded me of the idea that if I had patented, "cellular talking device" in the past, I could draw licensing from every single one of these companies? I mean, they practically allow you to patent a vague idea! The slide to unlock action is on the list. Really?

I think HTC only has to prove it's 30% different or something along those lines to win the suit. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I think that's what I remember hearing.

I still think it's pointless to preorder this phone, but that's just me personally. IMO you're all making way too big a deal out of it. No one ran out of the Droid, and that was MUCH more heavily marketed than the Incredible for weeks. I don't think any stores were even running low. I have complete confidence that I, or any of you, will be able to walk into your local Verizon store at any time on the 29th and buy this phone, as well as for the next few weeks. But hey, thats just my opinion.

interesting... i'll just order mine from verizon and have it at my door by the 29th. less hassle and confusion, for me at least.

this is pretty standard...

For those of you worried about the design being too similar to the iphone, please... compare the Samsung Galaxy S and the iphone haha, if anyone's getting sued by apple for a similar design, it's samsung

I really don't think Apple should be suing everyone. It's pot calling the kettle black IMHO. The more and more I hear about it, the more I dislike Apple. And I have a MacBook Pro and iTouch... BUT the chances of me ever getting an iPhone are zilch now..

That is true, but we like to have our Incredibles guaranteed. It's part of the whole experience. If you think we are giving too much of a deal into it, then by all means, don't pre-order it.

unless your closest verizon store is 45 minutes away like mine is. might as well just perorder it instead of makin the drive, for me. I'm not worried about them running out or anything, just a simple matter of convenience :D

You'll probably be forced to switch to the Nationwide, but that won't really affect you in any way at all. You'll still be required to have the $30 data plan but that's independent of the AC/NW switch.

Thanks....

Figured I'd have to go into an actual verizon store anyway because of my corporate discount (I may or may not get one on data - unsure as I don't work for the company anymore). When I look online at the droid I can just get that and tack on data....

But not really sure....I have so many plan questions I figure I should just wait till the 29th..do it in a store... I can wait the 30 days or so it takes to get the rebate card (my GF got the one for her Blackberry Tour in 2 weeks).

And if you don't use it at all..just activate it...you can transfer the funds to another acct (found that one out with her). Problem occurs that once you use it on something..you can't.

I walked into my local Verizon store at noon DROID launch day. They had sold out in 15 minutes. You=Fail.

I was on the phone with Verizon an hour ago, and they told me the preorder online sends it directly to your house, not a VZW store to pick up. You don't have to wait in line.

no, your store=fail. honestly thats the first time i've heard anything like that. from all the accounts i read, there were like 2 or 3 people at stores when they opened max, and considering most of them had like 15+ phones, nobody had a problem getting one. oh well, your loss.

The closest Verizon store is an hour and a half away. I would be getting it online anyway. This is nice because I will get it on the 29th, not the 30th. Plus no rebates to send in.
