Why people hate Touchwiz so much?

Honestly I read how much some people hate dislike or don't care about Samsung's Touchwiz.
I don't mind it. ..

touchwiz, as a whole, most people dislike because they havent used it since the galaxy s1 or 2. some people dislike the look of the current touchwiz launcher, which can easily be changed. and last some people think touchwiz is too bloated, but the best thing about touchwiz is all the features, and of course it is going to use memory. honestly some people love being cynical and looking for things to dislike

Well said

+1
Yeah the launcher is crap so use one of the excellent 3rd party ones.
Touchwiz adds more to vanilla android than it takes away and thats a good thing imo. It certainly doesnt dumb it down like other OEM skins.
Im not a samsung fanboy in any way but the fact that ive only used sammy based roms so far must say something :)

I haven't had any issues with it. But I agree, some people will find anything to complain about. I had a friend once that was complaining about not being able to Bluetooth his files to his computer with his android ( I forget the model) and then I said wait wait...why are you bluetoothing songs to your computer; Use the USB cord! It's much faster. And his reply was...no i want to use bluetooth and he started complaining again. I mean come on.

I still use TW. I use a different theme and launcher. I don't mind it. If I want to change it, I can flash a new rom and run pure Android if I choose.

It's just an opinion is all.

IMO, TW isn't the problem. It is a great software suite. However, it is rather bloaty and takes up valuable internal memory, as witnessed with the S4. (Hence why I prefer AOSP.)

Oh let me count the ways..... :)

1) Its HUGE!!! AKA full of bloat
1.1) The features are gimmicky. See point 1
1.2) Samsung, we don't need a Samsung app to try and replace everything Google has that is already better. See point 1

2) It looks like crayola designed it

3) No red underline under misspelled text

I could probably go on... Needless to say, I run AOSP ROMS ;)

Lol yeah i hate the gimmicky software additions, the s-crap so i always use a Lite rom and yeah (lmao@Crayola) youre right about the colour schemes lol... i can only assume its a cultural thing :)

soooo...you don't like tw or .......:p :D

Cant say it bothers me enough to change it to a different launcher and I get bothered easily.

Then again I'm lazy, so maybe I just haven't got round to it yet :D

Because it's slow, lags and makes your feel like 3 years old. They didn't even make the Contacts and Dialer apps correctly, take ages to load.

I wish that when you first activate the phone, you could choose which of the gimmicky features you want installed. That way the ones you don't want aren't installed and thus gives you more storage place.

I don't know myself what the big deal is with TW to be honest. I have read through some reasoning here but I don't see these issues on my S3 .. I do use Nova Prime just for the gestures and app drawer / dock customization, but apart from that I don't see any issues.

In fact, I don't even know what makes Touchwiz Touchwiz to be honest.

I think you should try an AOSP rom to notice the big difference between TW and pure Android. My S3 is flying and no more lags since I moved to PA.

I like touchwiz. But I like the idea of being able to have more options with Nova or some 3rd party launcher. Since I am uneasy about the thought of trying to root the phone. I would love to do it...but scared of messing it up. lol

I find that there are people who hate anything that is not pure Android. I personally do see some features of various manufacturer skins that I like.

In my opinion, here's how it breaks down. Now keep in mind that these points are for the general public and not to the informed root community members.

Pro Touchwiz

  1. Adds features not found in AOSP such as multi-view, smart stay, etc. Some of these features are quite gimmicky, but others are quite awesome.
  2. Creates a user experience that can be used by less tech inclined people.
  3. Differentiates their products from the likes of HTC, LG, etc.
Anti Touchwiz

  1. Extremely bloated compared to AOSP. On a 16GB device, Touchwiz has about 9GB of storage available to the user while a Nexus has about 13GB
  2. Slows down the update process leaving devices possibly several revisions behind. This thus leaves new AOSP features off these devices and leaves these devices more vulnerable to security holes that have been patched in newer android revisions.
  3. Touchwiz launcher is ugly (IMO) and is accused of being a rip off of iOS. This is easily fixed by those who know how, but not everyone knows about custom launchers and thus those people are "stuck" with it if they don't like it.
  4. While differentiation is a positive, it's also a negative. It makes it quite difficult for normal people to change between using AOSP, Touchwiz, Sense, etc phones. The layout is all different and the setting can be arranged very differently.
Again, these are all my opinions and to me, the cons outweigh the positives. But to each their own, and choice is what makes Android so awesome.
