Stop right there. There isn't a phone that has similar specs to the Evo. Put aside the screen size, the larger battery, the dual cameras, the 1GB ROM and 8GB internal storage, the rumored Froyo debut, and the built-in wifi hotspot ... no phone -- repeat, NO PHONE -- can compete with 4G. Its like ... a whole other G added to 3G. ;)

If you're in a 4G city and you pass on the Evo, then I have no sympathy for you and your impending buyer's remorse.

You are wrong.

The No. 3 wireless carrier, Sprint Nextel, claims to have a 4G network in place based on a different technology called WiMAX, though WiMAX is actually just an enhanced 3G technology.

Verizon and ATT are going to be going LTE right away. Sprint is actually just using a 3g enhanced network. Not the fast 4g.

That is LTE or Long Term Evolution.

4g LTE isn't going to be completed nationwide until 2013 and truly fast, reliable 4g most areas certainly won't be available for a while either. At LEAST a year.

Verizon and ATT aren't putting out their first 3g phone until 2011 and all of the LTE testing is complete.

Sprint is jumping the gun (they need clients quick) and pretending they have 4g when it's really just a (spotty) enhanced 3G - they are behind both Verizon and ATT who are doing a straight transition to the real 4g - LTE.

The Evo is clunkier, larger, doesn't have a scroll.. Did you see that ridiculous built in stand?? What is that all about - you would get through about an hour of the movie by the time your battery died at 720p.. Awesome. Just a waste of space. Get a Zune HD if you need a real multimedia player with really long battery life and high quality hd video.

There is absolutely no reason to switch to a carrier to make sure you have a 4g compatible phone right now - it's quite ridiculous and OCD -it is still too early just going to have to wait at least a year for real 4g and that could be $50-$60 who knows..

If in 2 years the 4g is at full speed, in most cities, and decently priced - I'll pick up a state of the art 4g phone then.

There comes a point where you are negatively rushing technology. This is going to take time and there is no reason to be making poor carrier decisions based on the first 4g phone that isn't even out yet and it won't be anywhere near optimal for at least another year.

Let the suckers get the guinea pig model while we ('INCREDIBLES') are fully optimizing the technology of TODAY with a bigger/better network and 3g network. Plus it's smaller, slimmer, and it's HERE!! Who the hell wants a built in stand for their cell phone anyways.. The evo is just pushing the envelope of teeny bopper phone.

AT&T, Verizon and Sprint 4G: Not so fast - Feb. 23, 2010

Still doing it in store for various reasons......

But anyone interested...the 1 year price is $269 (and you can't use your NE2)....

Which for me...the NE2 will go towards a 4G phone on Big Red

I went with the 1 year contract price and they charged me $229.99 for the phone online. ;)

Anyone want some iNcredible news? ;)

No problem, coming right up...:D

UPDATE:
Not only did Anonimac have something chunky up his sleeve, but VZW did as well!

Boom Goes the Dynamite II
- wireless 802.1n spec, which is brilliant
- Now open for pre-order at VZW, 4/29 delivery

I love this place, and all the hard core believers who have been hanging out for BGtD I & II for MONTHS! Thanks to the mods for keeping this rathouse together, and to the guys who really broke major news here along the way.
The Inc has finally arrived on VZWs net.

To all of you choosing a 1 year plan?...why? Are you coming to Verizon to chase this phone? Will you consider ATT or Sprint in 12 months from now? Otherwise I can't think but, why? If you're loyal to Verizon why not sign a 2 yr deal and then take the annual upgrade in 12 months? Since NE2 credits will be max $50 next time I don't see the point in waiting 20 months for it, might as well just get the phone you want every 12 months but pay the 2 yr pricing. No?

Some people don't want to be locked in for 2 years. Some people like to get new phones annually. Some people will want a phone that supports LTE. Yadda yadda.

It's personal preference.

wtf? i have a nationwide plan with unlimited txt and vcast (which gives me unlimited web).

It tells me this phone is "compatible with current plan" yet - still tries to force me on a $30 data plan. ugh. guess it really isn't "compatible with current plan" then is it? hmpf!

yes people. if you pay 20$ more you can upgrade every 12 months.

Get a 2 year contract, then at 12 months they say you are eligible for an early upgrade and they charge you 20$ more on top of 2 year pricing. much better way to go IMO. That is only if you are the main line though.

Happy birthday to me. Notice day and year :D

I see a few of you posting a free overnight shipping code. Mine came up free already. I even double checked when I started seeing your posts. Also my activation fee's are waived. Maybe some of it has to do with what plans you have...Who knows with vz.. Good luck everyone ordering your phones. Now we just have to survive waiting the next 10 days!!!

Probably what happens when we jump the gun and start ordering while they are still putting it in the system.
