Help How can i tell an oem

From a knock off? I have been on the Amazon site for 2 hours looking for a data cable, chargers and other Motorola accessories. There seems to be a lot of unhappy people buying knock offs while the product description says OEM.

Is there a way to tell for sure? I went to the Motorola site but couldn't find any info such as model numbers, etc. Here is just one example of complaints. I want a fast car charger or a dock gps/ charger to solve by battery drainage problem I reported earlier.

A fake will also include the same look, including numbers that the real one will... The only way to do it is research the seller themselve's, else you are gambling. I don't know of an easy way to do that... just dig in and read all of the reviews you can. At least you have more of a chance of finding good resellers on Amazon than eBay... You can't judge anything on eBay on reviews since the sellers can "blackmail" the buyers by not posting a review of the purchase until after the buyer has given them a good review first.

I did find an old Motorola thread address this issue but it was back in 2006 on the Razr V3! It did state on the car charger would be a trash can symbol printed on the OEM and not a label. I doubt if that holds true now since so much time has went by. The counterfeiters probably has corrected that by now!:D

I think that a lot of stuff on Amazon is true OEM but I think that a lot of them are reclaimed, unrefurbished used stuff, and there is no designation what is truly new, unused. A Bionic battery bought from anybody other than Motorola or Verizon directly is probably a crapshoot now that we are 20-21 months after the Bionic was released.

However, I would think that you could pick up any car charger from a Verizon store and it will work just fine to charge the Bionic, though.

EVERY Motorola cable I have has the Motorola logo molded into the plug.

... Thom

On that charger I ordered on the above link is some good info such as on the plug some writes
"QA sticker, with holographic image. Obverse of plug has the Motorola "M" logo very crisply molded (not vague, sloppy, or imprecise)."
