Help Video Settings

Yesterday I was tethered to my computer and tried to upload to FB a couple of videos direct from my phone thru my pc..... Didnt get it done..... They were a couple of 2 min videos.... It was loading them however, after 40mins at about 50% I gave up.... Never had this problem with other phones.... what do I need to change....

Sounds like you have video recording set to the default HD720p - or maybe even HD1080p - which means your videos are High Definition and the files are going to be somewhere around 100MB per minute.

You can significantly reduce the file size if you switch to SD480p which is Standard Definition. This quality is not as good as HD, but fine for uploading to t'interweb.

To do this, start the camera, go into video mode, press and hold the screen to get the settings circle up and drag down. You should then get a menu with a Video Quality option. Touch that, then select the bottom, SD480p option.

Alternatively, you could use a video editor (Windows used to include one, I don't know if it's still there or if you can maybe download it from the Microsoft site - alternatively, just google free video editing software) to convert your existing video to a lower resolution.

There may even be apps that can do this - try searching on Play.

Just made that change.... will see how it works out..... Wish there was a simple way to change my existing videos to the same thing..but that's another thing.....Cheers.... Thx...

Just checked and it's pretty easy to change them from your phone:

- open the Movie Studio app on your phone
- provide a name
- tap the + sign in the bottom right box
- select the video you wish to edit from your Gallery
- tap the menu options
- select Export film
- select Film size 848x480
- select Film quality of Medium or Low
- click Export

That ought to produce much smaller file sizes.
