Is there plastic around the camera lens?

There seems to be a plastic sticker around the camera lens, with a hole cut out for the actual lens itself. I tried peeling it off but I can't seem to get it.

First off, is it even there or am I imagining things? Second, if it is there, is it meant to be removed like the plastic around the sides, or is it meant to stay on and protect the lens (since it has a hole in it)?

Thanks.

yes there is protective plastic on the lens you are supposed to remove, i didnt see it for a few days myself. not really sure why it has a hole in it though

It is suppose to be removable but I just do not take it out. Just leave it on, it can (somehow) protect your camera from scratches.

Yes. I didn't notice it for a week and was disappointed it was gathering debris (until I realized it was a protective film). Mine wouldn't peel off so I had to use a pocket knife to get the process started.

I was just wondering about this...I can see what looks like plastic starting to peel, but no amount of picking at it seems to work. Please post what you finally use to remove the plastic.

Thanks!

Removed it the same day I got my phone, my index finger usually rests on the camera lense so the cover began irritating me.

That's funny. Felt it tonight for first time. Had about 10 people around my phone trying to find it and we couldn't, yet we could feel it. A mysterious piece of plastic if you as me.

Samsung recommend leaving it on as it protects the lens, but yeah I also removed as it doesn't look great. :)

I'll be damned. Had not noticed that. Just took it off. I was trying to take pics of my S3 to sell on eBay, and could not for the life of me take clear close up shot of the front of the phone. It would not focus. Focused ok when taking a pic of the back of the phone, just not the front. Wonder if this plastic had something to do with that?

I do the same thing.

Thanks for this thread. I had also noticed that it didn't really look right. But I didn't want to scratch it, so I left it alone and forgot about it. I was able to get it with my fingernail after a few tries.

Just wondering how many had a look after this post lol.

I did wonder whether to take it off or not but because they have not made it very easy to decided to leave it on as it does not seem to be interfering with the camera and I feel it is giving some protection.

So do we know for sure that it obscures the lens and is worth removing?

People's results seem to vary. I couldn't get the phone to produce a decent picture until I removed it. I took it off and now the shots are as good as, if not better than similar shots from my SLR.

Ok, how in the world did you guys remove this thing? I can't even see where the outer edges of the plastic are, nor can I feel them!

I noticed a piece of hair or something stuck under the plastic, so I decided to take it off, but I just can't figure it out!

I carefully started a corner with a pocket knife....

I don't know about you guys, but I just use my finger nail and 'slash' it out. No scratches at the camera.
