Root Seeking root advice

Drang

Newbie
I would like to delete all the bloatware, and be able to make better use of memory, on my GT3113.

I see a lot of links to "How to root using XYZ", but they leave me wondering if I have the whole story. part of it is unfamiliar terminology; unless my search-fu has seriously deteriorated, there does not seem to be a thread or a file somewhere that explains what is needed, with definitions.

If I root, do I need to install a new ROM? A kernel? A "recovery"? What is a "recovery", anyway? Etc.

Not looking to overclock (at least that's one term that seems to have ported over from DOS/Windoze with meaning unchanged!), not looking to super-customize, but I do want to make better use of my device.

Is there a rooting method that will simply let me install apps, or their files to the SD card, and uninstall the redundant or unwanted Samsung apps?

TIA

Here is a link that explains all of your questions about what root is. http://androidforums.com/sony-erics...om-kernel-cwm-firmware-flashing-adb-root.html

Thanks.

Obviously time to hit the dojo and work on my search-fu.

(Then again, I wouldn't have looked in the Sony Ericsson Experia Mini forum, either...)
