I didn't get an email from Verizon either saying pre-order is now open. I don't think anyone did. Just go to Verizon's website and order it.

yeah, i didn't get an email either. i ordered mine last night, around 10 p.m., pacific time, just because i was checking the site and saw the pre-order form go live.

my wife is waiting.... still holding out for an iphone on verizon, so i only ordered one incredible.

Is there a touchscreen besides ZAGG's that anyone would suggest? I didn't see one in the list of accessories when I was pre-ordering online.

Anyone getting the Incredible through the corporate channel (their employer)? That's the route I'm going and heard rumblings that phones can't be preordered through corporate accounts and you actually have to wait until it's released to order it.

I just checked on our discount website and it shows up there for pre-order. But there is no discount on the phone itself, so I'll just go through my user account - $100 online and $100 NE2 - $99. Sweet! Cheaper than my Voyager was and 10X better :D

Does anyone else find the "leak" of this new iPhone "4g" info with Gizmodo rather suspicious in timing?

1) Gizmodo has always had a fairly evident Apple bias
2) The leak occurs right as momentum swells for pre-orders and general buzz for the HTC Droid Incredible
3) Apple hasn't fired a "Cease and Decist" at Gizmodo yet. Normally folks who just post PICS of unannounced devices get C&D's, let alone a large tech blog who has physical possession of a lost device that they shouldn't..... Unless of course Apple PURPOSEFULLY gave them a prototype and had Gizmodo fabricate a cover story to generate massive buzz to kill Droid momentum.

Paranoid? Mehaps, but i find the circumstances suspicious and the timing even more so.

So much talk about accessories, I'll wait to make sure I like the phone before I by any kind of accessories. There is still a chance, although its small, nevertheless there is still a chance this phone could be fubar and I don't want to deal with the hassle of returning accessories along with the device.

Coming from a Moto Droid, the quicker camera is a huge reason to make the change for me. Taking pictures of my 20 month and 4 month old kids are a nightmare. The picture quality from the samples posted are excellent and although there is no 720p video recording, the WVGA resolution is perfect for sharing and posting on my wife's facebook page.

I was just told when calling customer service is that a pre-order works in that it puts you in line by when you ordered. And depending on how many they have in stock is if you will get it right away or not.

Is this true, the problem is that everyone's order status says "Your order is awaiting approval or phone availablity". So you have no idea where you are in line, that is if there is a line.

People don't need to be worried about the reception on this phone. HTC phones have historically reported had a signal bar that reported a weaker signal strength than other phones. In testing and looking at the real signal numbers (dB's), HTC phones always perform quite strong. Most cell phone review sites just don't actually "review" the signal strength of the phone and instead judge the reception based on the bars that are far from a accurate representation of true signal strength.

If you've had a HTC phone in the past you'd see this too. It was always a discussion with Windows Mobile phones when people were asking why their bars were lower than on their previous phones. I've owned a fair amount of HTC phones over the years and I can safely say they work well even in fringe areas. You just need to tell your brain that those bars aren't really giving you the full story.

BTW, in the Android system menus, you can see the actual dB signal strength your phone is actually getting if you are curious how good it actually is.

This makes sense - why would they not compare the signal strength to other HTC phones like the Eris? Guess I am too logical :o

1) yes they have and 2) seems like a controlled leak, hence the long long amount of time prior to a C&D, it is nice however to finally have a leak and its not some blurry spy shot where you can barely make out colors....lol

Working on a way to convince myself and my wife that iChat is going to be just a novelty and I would never want it.... :)

Wait so you think the fact that a prototype Apple 4g was left on the floor of some random bar and forgotten about is STAGED?

There is no way that a company as anal retentive as Apple is going to allow that to happen unless they wanted to. It's very obvious and Gizmodo has their tongues all over Steve Jobs' iSac and always have.

just got off the phone with vzw... i was hoping i could get them to move up my upgrade date (currently november) since i've had two omnias crap out on me.

no dice. if i want this bad boy i'm paying full retail. 1/2 pound of lame with weak sauce.

Definitely, and I posted a comment to that effect on the story. :)

Hey, I have probably a stupid question for you guys, but does this have the same usb port as the Eris? Micro....Mini...I get confused!

Micro is the one to the far left, Mini one more to the right:

So has anyone that ordered the Zagg protector (or any screen protector for that matter) got any confirmation of shipping. I'm wondering if there's any protector that I could order and have here waiting when my phone is delivered.

I wouldn't expect to see a confirmation till tonight or tomorrow morning.(I ordered yesterday)...

Still plenty of time, I figure I'll get it(the order) the end of the week, that leaves 5-7 till I can get the phone :(

As far as front facing cameras are concerned. Here are my thoughts...
Good idea in theory, Bad idea in the real world.

First the good.
At home you can talk to the person face to face.
Maybe show them something that pictures just won't do justice.

The real bad.
The moron people that will use this while driving. You thought texting was bad you ain't seen nothing yet.
The moron people that will use this in a grocery store not paying attention to where their cart runs your ass over.
The people jogging using the camera at the same time. Can you say Car food.

Question.. if I buy this phone from Best Buy, (on a new contract or annual upgrade) I can get it for $199.. and that's from an instant rebate, correct? They wont charge me $299 and give me a giftcard, will they?
