Does this mean I can uninstall Poot, Ministro, BusyBox, etc., that I needed to root ICS?

Also, are you referring to this thread for the recovery .tar: http://androidforums.com/reverb-all-things-root/701566-recovery-touch-cwm-v6-0-3-0-a.html ?

Will this give me root once I've updated to JB, or will this give me rooted JB? Will this reset my phone or will I still have my apps and files?

Thanks.

Does anyone have a copy of the clockwork mod recovery .tar file? The only one I can find on these forums is the .zip for CWM. The .tar links I have found are all dead. I need the tar file to put a recovery on the phone.

Cmw test 8 is the one you want from oudhs

Oh and the link bkttk mentioned a couple posts up is a little more detailed as far as rooting JB if you run into problems

-also Interloper's soft brick and recovery support thread is very detailed as far as installing CWM goes

D'oh! I feel rather silly for having forgotten about that link.

Thank you.

Isn't the bkttk link only for previously rooted ICS (non-jellybean) phones?

The guide can be applied for the reverb in general. I originally created the info when the OTA came out. I have made a few edits but only to update links or clarify as there are still Reverbs with ICS.

I have noticed comments that there might be issues with the test 8 CWM and Reverbs with JB out of the box. I am unable to test this and at this time test 8 is the only custom recovery I know of.

hi. ive only jailbroken a ps3 and a wii. i got 2 brand new reverbs one for me one for my gf. i realize that it updated to jb 4.1.2 some how.

how do i root this? i see the guides but im not sure what exactly to do? oes anyone have an updateD list of things we need to download to do this??

If your Reverb was running ICS when you got it and THEN updated itself to JB, then the instructions in this thread (or the links contained within to more detailed step by steps) should work for it.
As far as I can make out, only folks who bought Reverbs that came out of the box with JB are having trouble rooting.

ok. it needs to be said. I LOVE YOU. You have created a glorious beautimous rom that I truly love. THANK YOU. It installed smooth as silk, no factory reset required, just reinstalled busybox and super user and cleared davlik cache and rebooted. My internal memory leftover went from 208mg to 1.5gig THANK YOU! You have my eternal gratitude.

I appreciate the kindness, but can you please tell me what your referring to exactly..? I didn't make any ROM...

I had hired a company to root my phone 3 months ago, and when the phone did the automatic upgrade, I lost root.
I didn't want to repay for the root, so I followed the directions, and it worked excellently. Thank you so much.:)

the fact you paid for root in the first place is saddening, seeing as it was all posted for free all over many forums etc with proper credits given. shame there are people selling developers hard work and making money for what we give away for free.

When you start this process, have the back cover OFF the phone.

AS SOON AS THE FLASH IS COMPLETE AND YOU SEE "SUCCESS" POP UP IN THE LINE COMMAND BOX LOWER LEFT AND THE SCREEN GOES BLACK, PULL THE BATTERY! If you don't get that done before the Samsung logo & swirl, the stock recovery will reinstall itself.

Give that a try and you should be good to go...;)

Hope this helps...

Peace,
Sox

I have a reverb with the ota jb upgrade. None of the root methods I can find will work on my phone. My pc is running Linux Mint 17, so Odin is out and the Linux port called jOdin can't find a PIT file. Even if it did, there is one time when I have to boot into download and type my password into the pc. That is sort of difficult. The JB rom absolutely sucks. If nobody has any better ideas, I'm going to junk it.
Any help would be appreciated. Isn't there some way to accomplish this with the Android SDK?

Have you tried Heimdall?
