Is there way to set the notification sounds in texting not to sound off every time you get a new message in the conversation your in?

IDK but I use Handcent for my texting on the Active because it has pop up notifications & very customizable. You can control all of your alert tones on that, maybe this will help you.

I am having the same issue, and find it very annoying. I shouldnt have to use a 3rd party app to text so it doesnt make a sound when I get a new message in the active conversation.
