I was eligible for the NE2 upgrade starting July 8th (the 20 month mark). I e-mailed them, saying that I've been with them since 2003 and that I was upgrading from a regular phone with no data plan to the Incredible with the $30 data plan, and asked if they would be willing to move it up to April 29th so I could get the phone right away. They said yes.

People seem to have better luck via e-mail, but I've seen some people do it via calling too.

What email address or link on the Verizon site did you use to get the early upgrade? I'm due 5/6 and would love to get that moved up so I can pre-order now. Thanks!

You answered your own question. They didn't say it was great, but they surely didn't say it was crap. You get average talk/stand-by time from this 1300 battery in the Incredible.

One reviewer said he unplugged the phone in the morning and didn't plug it back in until 11 at night and Still had 13% left. That was with heavy app and internet use. He recorded video, had a hour + long conversation as well as other calls and I believe said he said with GPS on. That's pretty good for a smartphone. Specially considering this much more powerful device has the same battery as an Eris. As long as it can get through a full days use I'm happy.

so i just got off the phone with someone from one of my local vzw corporate stores and he argued with me that the moto. droid is still much better than the inc..... what do you guys think about that?

Yeah, that's probably true with the auto-brightness setting set to true.

Most of the reviewers disabled the auto-brightness because it was a little weird. The auto-brightness really saves the battery.

lol, i know that now after hours and hours have gone by since i've pre-ordered.

verizon won't let me change my shipping method and i didn't get the free overnight so i'm not sure what to do

The free overnight promo code is not necessarily something to worry about. when I pre-ordered mine last night, and entered that code it came back as an invalid code. Upon further investigation, I found that VZW will guarantee a 4/29 Fed-Ex delivery if ordered by 3pm (maybe 4pm?) on the 28th. And on top of that, you can always check the status of your order by entering your 9-digit order number on VZW's site.

After playing with a moto droid at the store I hope not...

That is the WORST physical keyboard I have ever used. It is the sole reason I didn't buy a moto droid...

/agree

however, the only reason i can possibly think of to say a droid was BETTER than an incredible would be because it has a physical keyboard and the incredible doesnt (although I hate a physical keyboard altogether) but what else could one possibly favor over the incredible, besides being cheaper....

Fingers crossed!!! I just emailed verizon and asked them to move my NE2 from 9/3/10 to 4/20/10 so I can get the Incredible.

I called this morning and the operator said no because my NE2 date was at the 20 month mark so they were already bumping me 4 months. I have seen posters here have their date moved from October to today so why not me??!?

I hope so!!

BTW: The email I used was under their "contact us" tab at verizonwireless.com

I saw earlier today where someone was asking about the initial start-up being like the N1. Although the phone will sync with gmail like the N1 it appears that you will have to go to settings and enter in your information instead of it forcing it the first time you turn it on. Since this phone will be sold in stores they probably do it this way so they can activate your phone without having to go through it every time with a new customer. If someone didn't have a gmail account it would make it a very time consuming activation.

i am sorry if yall discussed this 10 times earlier or not...its 4:32 and im just waking up had a long long nite!! but did the rom get updated from 512 to 748??? or am i just missing something?

The DInc sections of VZWs site are a cluster! I can't even locate the cover I posted a while back!
The little red number is a soft silicon rubber cover. I don't like 'em.
They have a BodyGlove model that's shown as out of stock, probably waiting for the first stock to arrive. Looks decent, and will hold me until the better vendors paddle onto the Incredible wave.

I'm sure this was discussed but I probably missed it as I only have time to check a few pages at work. Does it come with a microSD card pre-installed or not? I didn't see anything on VZW webpage but I just found the link to the incredible-launch-package and on page 25 it says 8GB pre-installed microSD.

I also e-mailed customer service through their "contact us" tab on the website. I'll keep my fingers crossed too because I'm asking them to move my NE2 date from 7/30/10 to now. Hopefully this works :(

success at this requires 3 things, perseverance, politeness, and luck...

You should have asked him when he bought his Moto Droid, and consoled him on his buyer's remorse. Tell him it's okay, the Droid isn't that bad - or have him sell it on craigslist and bite the bullet to buy the incredible.

im sad that you would even get into an argument with a Verizon store employee

Many sources indicate that the pre-installed 8GB memory is internal. No SD card is included, so the slot will be available for you to expand it further.

I did the same thing and just got a call from them. Told them my phone was dying, been with them 12 years and love them, just can't afford a new phone without the NE2. I believe my date was the same is yours. All she offered was that I could make an insurance claim and get a new one. She said that my date was too far away for them to consider it. When she asked what phone I wanted I was like, "I've heard of a new phone. I think it is called the, um, Incredible or something like that." At least I can have the 2yr contract price. Sorry to be a downer. Hope you hear something different.
