***Official HTC Incredible Thread***

So, I went to the Verizon store, again, this morning. I figured the manager who knew NOTHING when I went a week ago might know something today. Mind you, I have been there 3 other times in the past week talking to another manager and checking to be sure that I as indeed up for my NE2. (My husband is convinced there is a picture of me there with a red circle and a line going through it.)

The manager walked up to me and asked what I needed. I laughed and told him I was back about the Incredible. He told me he didn't have any information yet. I told him I was surprised since it went on pre-order today on line and that I wanted to see if he could put me on a list. I told him I didn't want to buy on line and preferred to purchase in the store. He said he didn't know when they would be getting them and that he would call me when they came in. I said I would be there early on the 29th in case there's a line. He looked at me like I was from Mars and said there wouldn't be a line. He wasn't even convinced they would be there on the 29th. WTH!!! He wrote my name and number on a sticky note and stuck it on a clip board. I didn't and don't feel very confident about this.

What is odd to me is that this is Los Angeles. It isn't like we aren't a large metropolitan city. How is that the manager of a very large and popular Verizon store doesn't know about the next big phone that is going to hit in 2 weeks?

There was a young guy in the store who, as I was walking out, asked me what I was talking about. I told him and he was thrilled. He is going to wait and buy the Incredible. As I walked past the manager to leave I said, "I just sold you another phone."

so i just got off the phone with someone from one of my local vzw corporate stores and he argued with me that the moto. droid is still much better than the inc..... what do you guys think about that?

sadly it is still sorta arguable..
one could argue that the droid screen is better than the inc screen due to slightly higher res and previously mentioned color/resolution issues

i don't particularly care for the build of the droid, but it certainly will have more heft and a more solid feel than the plastic-y inc backplate will have

slightly larger battery 100mah in the droid

likely earlier android upgrades since there won't be any sense compatibility issues

I'm sure this was discussed but I probably missed it as I only have time to check a few pages at work. Does it come with a microSD card pre-installed or not? I didn't see anything on VZW webpage but I just found the link to the incredible-launch-package and on page 25 it says 8GB pre-installed microSD.

8gb on board no micro sd.

Thanks Crimton. I'm just so anxious to get this phone, I'm wondering if I should wait til the 29th, or go in and have them order it and it get here in 4 to 5 days (unless they only mail them on the 29th).

i'm actually getting 2. 1 by mail preordered, then i'll swap one for my droid that i got a couple weeks ago. i don't think there is gonna be a shortage of incredibles at all.

Kinda Strange....I did my pre order over the phone this morning and all went through......Just a few minutes ago i got an email showing that my item (phone) was shipped and that it was due for arrival tomorrow...I didn't think the phone was released until the 29th....hmmmmmm....I called verizon sales dept. and the girl checked the order number and it matched up??? She couldn't believe it either.....She said it looked like it was shipped through their business dept??? I also noticed the item was shipped from a warehouse in Memphis TN. if that means anything??? What do you guys think???

Yes, I just spoke with Customer Service during lunch, I forgot about the "freeovernt" code, so I tried to get it changed & have it shipped to my office. The Customer Service lady said, since it's preorder, everyone will receive it on the 29th regardless which shipping you choose. I chose the free 2nd Day...but she assured me I'll get it on the 29th. She couldn't change the shipping address though.

Exactly! Sometimes you have to drop a call when its obvious the CS agent is not responsive. Worst thing possible is a confrontation, which:
- you can't win, especially if you are asking for something special
- can result in a nastygram appended to your customer record, which is going to make it really hard going forward.

If you really want to pull rank, talk to a supervisor or higher. You'd better be carrying heavy caliber ammunition to have any hope of success.

I did the same thing and just got a call from them. Told them my phone was dieing, been with them 12 years and love them, just can't afford a new phone without the NE2. I believe my date was the same is yours. All she offered was that I could make an insurance claim and get a new one. She said that my date was too far away for them to consider it. When she asked what phone I wanted I was like, "I've heard of a new phone. I think it is called the, um, Incredible or something like that." At least I can have the 2yr contract price. Sorry to be a downer. Hope you hear something different.

It's weird. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to them allowing an early NE2. Again, I saw peeps get theirs moved from October to today...

Hopefully I made my case to them.

OK...Just walked out of an actual Verizon Wireless store and got a few answers to a couple of questions I had....which I think affect others here.

1. If you are on an older plan (I"m on a 900 Minute America's Choice for instance) you DO NOT need to change it. If the site is forcing you to....then call up and order the phone with a person.

The reason for the problem is that the ordering system does not have that plan in it anymore.

2. Most corporate discounts have both a voice rate AND a separate rate for data. If they happen to be the same...that's just now...they move independently of each other and can change whenever your company changes its corporate discount (up or down).

My voice started off with a 19% discount in 2004. I was just informed its up to 26%. And I never had data and I was informed its 20%.

I was told any issues...do it on the phone or in person. Not the site.

Kinda Strange....I did my pre order over the phone this morning and all went through......Just a few minutes ago i got an email showing that my item (phone) was shipped and that it was due for arrival tomorrow...I didn't think the phone was released until the 29th....hmmmmmm....I called verizon sales dept. and the girl checked the order number and it matched up??? She couldn't believe it either.....She said it looked like it was shipped through their business dept??? I also noticed the item was shipped from a warehouse in Nashville if that means anything??? What do you guys think???

I think if you get it you better let me know. So I can order mine and use my Best Buy gift card on something else.

Need help from VZW Reps. I am an Altel customer bought by Verizon with a friends and family 500 with 3 phones, one smartphone, and two razors. Am wanting to get 2 incredibles to replace smartphone (Not 3G) and 1 RZR. Online it is telling me that my RZR is not upgradeable as the plan is no longer offered. It says I have to purchase a new plan for that phone. The corp. VZW store said that I could upgrade by paying an extra $20.00. I assume it is because the service for that phone is $20 added to my plan. This is my daughter's phone who is in nursing school and we are trying to be as frugal as possible. Anyone have information. Called verizon 800 number and they did not know. Wanted to order the 2 DI's online but don't want to change my plan. Any comments.

Thanks. The 3rd person I talked to at 800 number was able to help me. The computer online was defaulting to make me change my plan which I did not want to do. The last person I talked to was able to get my second phone upgraded to Droid Incredible by adding data only.

you have to have a two year activation to get them. Canceling the plan would be more expensive than the phone itself

Its exactly the boring pedestrian stuff you'd expect from VZW's product management people, but for $29 it might have do until the better vendors get their cases to market.

I finally got on VWZ.com at like 1:30pm EST today!! I gave up last night at 4am..... Trying to pay my current bill now online and VWZ is slow as molasses!!!
Now I can move on with my life and start stalking FedEx! I recently moved here and I haven't had any FedEx deliveries so I don't know what time the truck usually comes around.... I guess I'll have to get my behind up early on the 29th and stay glued to the front door, then when it comes charge it up take a nap and then play!!! I'm pinky swearing to myself that I'm going to CHARGE THE PHONE BEFORE DOING ANYTHING! Which means that I will have to be sleeping!

My phone is working fine and the $50 doesn't make a difference either way. I always upgrade earlier than 2 years and figured hey if I can save $50 then it's worth a shot. I though the sob story and being extra friendly might work. My phone is a Dare also. I got it after I was tired of Windows mobile. Decent phone but I won't be sad to see it go. Good luck!

Anyone disappointed in the picture and video quality. When recording the sound is all garbled and what not. A good camera is highest on my list of what type of phone I want. Im glad both the reviews of this phone came out and also the leak of the new iPhone. Im not sure what to do. The new iPhone is thinner and has an extremely well made design with ceramic and aluminium. The incredible is all plastic and cheap. wOrdie said the back didnt have a solid feel to it. He said in some parts it gives.

Somewhat decent camera
Video is choppy pix-elated and has terrible audio
No usb or hdmi on the bottom ( On the side is so stupid )
The hold and audio jack should be on opposite sides

Very solid build with high quality materials
Great design
High capacity storage
Most likely better camera with better video quality
Stereo speakers
Dual mics

Con:
iPhone OS ( Big factor )
Locked down with iTunes
Smaller screen ( Big factor)

I really need help with choosing to get the Incredible now or just wait to see if the iPhone comes to Verizon.
