Help App Not Installed

ok, i know this problem comes up alot, but i no longer care if it installs, i just want to fix what it did when trying to install

I was trying to install Adobe flash player 11 on my rooted, samsung galaxy precedent, (i no longer care about installing it). So i had downloaded the apk file, and tried to install. So it starts to install, says installing, then finishes and says App Not Installed. Ok, so that's all fine and dandy, but why does it have to still take up memory??? Every time i tried install it (5 times), it was taking 3-4 mb of space after each try, and the space has not returned. I have cleared the cache, the davlik cache, rebooted multiple times, and i am still missing all the memory. I have also used an app called ms file explorer to search through all the system files, sd card files, etc., for anything with the name Adobe or Flash in it, and returned no results besides the apks i had downloaded, which i deleted, and still had the same amount of memory. All in all, i am at a loss of where to go from here. Where did the space go?

Thanks for any help.

If using the Play Store and trying to install an incompatible app (the reason for the 'application not installed') the APK file remains saved somewhere on the system partition and i have never been able to find it. Only a successful install will delete the APK file. Same thing happens when attempting to install apps with insufficient internal storage-the APK remains behind taking up additional internal storage, making matters worse. One of many reasons i will not use Play Store. I personally use 1Mobile Market which carries most of the apps found in Play, and uses a folder on the SD card to save APK files, making it easier to delete or to back up apps later
