Root [Verizon] Call log

dkl1

Android Expert
I need to get my calls log from my previous ROM but I can't find it! Before flashing the current one, I made a backup/restore .xml in Titanium Backup but I can't remember where it saved it. I remember I couldn't tell it where... it had a preset path (that I failed to write down!).

I have tried searching in Root Browser but nothing...

look under /sdcard/data/com.keramidas/TitaniumBackup

or

/storage/extSdCard/data/com.keramidas/TitaniumBackup ---if it's saved to the external card :)

Mike thanks man, but I simply do not see it! I actually don't have /storage/extSdCard...

...It goes /storage/emulated, sdcard0, sdcard1, usbdisk0 :o

NOW what? :bawling:

Well, then try this...open TB...menu/preferences/backup folder location.

That should tell you where it backed it up to, so you can use your file explorer to navigate to it:)

Yes? :D

Nope, not in there either! (crap....)

Say whuh?? You made a backup of it right? It's gotta be on your sd card or external sd card somewhere....
Let me see...I'm gonna make a backup of my call logs and see where it saves to...hang on pal:)

Edit:
Mine saved to /storage/extSdCard/TitaniumBackup....
Which makes sense on my device since I have my backups going there.
And in there are my call logs that I just backed up.

Where does TB say your backups are going?

I did that already! And where it saved it to, the other was not in there....

Remember, when I made that backup, I was running CleanRom (TW) 4.1.x but this CarbonRom is 4.2.2. Does that put a new twisty to it?? :p

EDIT: Says they go into /storage/sdcard1/TitaniumBackup

Oh yeah...hmm..can you search for XML_CALL_LOG in Root Explorer?

Is there anything listed in /storage/sdcard1/TitaniumBackup? I mean, besides the call log, did you backup anything else with TB?

There's a bunch of files in that folder but I'm guessing I'd only be looking for .xml files? There's actually an older CALL LOG .xml but too old...:smokingsomb:

Just double checking, so don't hate me, but are you sure you backed them up?

I am most certain that I did! :D

EDIT: Thanks Mike for your generous time on this silly issue! It's frustrating to know that I did a backup so I could get these call logs and then....PPPFFFSSSTT! Not there! What to do, what to do....

Sorry, but I had to ask. ;)
then for sure it has to be somewhere.

Now, you were on CleanRom when you made the backup with TB.

You flashed Carbon Rom which you are running now, and want to restore your call logs.

But are unable to restore them because TB cannot find them correct?

You have got a crystal clear picture of my dilemma!! :(

Well, then like you said, TB is not looking in the right place.

You may have saved it to /storage/sdcard1/TitaniumBackup, but on CleanRom, there is no such thing as sdcard1. At least on mine there is not.
Now, to restore it, we need to redirect TB on where to look for that xml file.

That is the $100,000 question I think....."where to have TB look for my xml file".

Now, could the search parameters be expanded by searching for, Call log?

Edit: I just re-re-reread my post...it was kinda confusing.

In root explorer, can you search for "Call Log" ?

(I'm fighting a dull headache this evening, wonder why?!) I'm gonna shut down for this evening Mike but will tackle this at an earlier point in the evening - perhaps tomorrow! If you think of something just post and I'll get it. Thanks again for your contributions to this board. The salary must be phenomenal :p

Posting some stuff here/questions:
Do you have any issues restoring any other apps?

Is the option to restore your call logs in the TB restore screen?

No and yes!

Something else, for giggles I installed a different phone dialer and contacts app by Touch pal soon after flashing CR and I'm having a problem with it displaying my current call log! For instance, if I call or receive a call it fails to register in my recent calls list...

This could be part of the the same problem? I would go back to the stock dialer BUT like a true 'no0b' I deleted it  and can't figure out how to get it back! I know, I know I should have frozen it but didn't think about that option... :banghead:

I agree that the dialer app may be the culprit . . . If your original dilaer app is gone, & it was the only one that tracked/saved call log data, then that makes sense. Do you have a fairly recent backup to go back to; so you can: A - have your original dialer app, & B - un-install & re-install the new dialer app to see if that fixes the issue - ??

Hey, thanks Talon for jumping in here! Don't tell Mike I said this but I think this has stumped EVEN HIM :p (OH, Hi Mike....we were JUST talking about you:o!!!) JK of course!!:)

Anyway, I have a nandroid of the previous ROM but I believe I had deleted the stock dialer BEFORE making a nand of my current ROM..

I've never done any surgery like going into a ROM and just pulling out what is needed while leaving the rest but is it possible to go into the .zip of this ROM (Carbon) and just getting the dialer from there? I'm totally clueless as to the possibility of doing that. :smokingsomb:
