Root [MetroPCS/CDMA] Nandroid backup

I just rooted and backed up my nv I also created a nandroid backup. I'm on the stock rom still but i'm about to try out some new roms my question is since I have a nandroid of my stock rom should I create a nandroid everytime I switch roms or will my nandroid of the stock rom be fine if i ever run into any problems. I see some people lose 4g and other issues with roms so I don't want to start flashing roms until I know this.

You shouldn't have any problems as long as you made the nv backup. That was the first & most important thing you done. You can even move your stock backup to your pc, just in case you delete it from your phone

I know the nandroid is stored on your phone in the clockworkmod folder but I see a whole bunch of files in the folder do I need to take the whole folder or just the file named nadroid?

i would just copy the whole cwm folder. if ur planning to save it on your pc or whatever. also most of us use twrp its like cwm but has more features and its touch based so u dont have to use volume buttons to scroll up and down. also has a neat option to restore/backup to a otg usb device meaning if u buy an adapter to connect a normal usb flash drive to your phone u may use it to save back ups to your usb device or if u already have back ups on it you may restore from it as well. You can get the latest twrp easily by downloading the goo manager from play market then either select to flash a rom and it will ask u to first install open recovery or u can select the menu button on your phone's lower left corner and select install open recovery from there. either way its your choice and welcome aboard. :D

Most use TWRP (touch only, good layout).

You can use Shabby's version of CWR (supports both touch and button controls). It doesn't use open recovery scripts so GooManager can't automate everything for you, if you use that. You can change the preferred backup format in the backup options. TWRP only makes tar backups (lots of backups are going to take up lots of room - eventually).

You may have yours set to dedupe but you can easily change it to tar and save your stock ROM as one, single file. I like dedupe, myself (I make lots of incremental backups).
