Help Is this since Jelly Bean??

Lurker
I have read that an OTG cable with usb attached works a treat, but methinks that some of the posting (not here of course) was maybe Ice Cream and not Jelly Bean 4.1.2, because for the life of me I cannot get it to work on my brand new 10.1.
I have downloaded the File Manager HD for tablet which recognises my onboard memory & my 32gig micro Sd card, but alas nothing appertaining my USB, is there another file manager I should use, another adapter (the expensive one that you can fit memory cards & a mouse if you so choose) does my new Note 10.1 have to be rooted?, your thoughts on this matter most appreciated.

When you connect the USB stick, go to ANY file manager and open /mnt/USB A/B/C and you stuff should be there. It works.

USB sticks larger than 32GB are not likely to work, USB HDDs do not work unless you connect them to a power source.

Cheers for your swift response, found the usb a-f folders nothing in them. I deliberately chose a small usb formatted to fat32 8gig only, put about a gig of audio on board, but as I say.....nothing. I have two file managers ES file explorer & FS ManagerHD any other thoughts? The OTG cable was a cheapie fro m ebay!.

If a USB OTG adapter is connected, it should say "USB connector connected". It should not prompt anything else.

Try rebooting the device and see if that resolves it. Sometimes a process may hang or something preventing it from properly connecting. If it still doesn't work after the reboot, then the cable adapter may be faulty.

Couldn't wait until holiday, just purchased another adapter and all is well, so faulty adapter. Thanks for all your help on this matter.
