I'm a little stunned as to what's disappointing about the D.I.

In all seriousness, I believe it is exactly what we were all told it would be. I don't want to change your mind, but let me at least assure you, this phone is awesome. It flies.

I got to play with it last thursday at the Verizon Expo. It is ridiculously fast. It feels nice in the hand. It was (as expected) lighter than a Moto Droid but had the heft that you knew it was quality built. I personally liked the feeling of the soft touch case. It didn't feel plastic like, just smooth. Like a technogeek's suede if you will.

Just wait until the 29th, go to a vzw corp store and try it out. It will make you excited all over again.

As for me, I can't wait to get the boob live wallpaper just to tick off my girlfriend. :p

My suggestion - go handle the phone before passing a judgment on build quality. I've seen some sites call it great, I've seen some call it average. Make the final judgment for yourself, but please don't parrot only the negative side of a split decision.

Most authors will have to rewrite their Iphone apps after 4.0 anyway. I doubt many will decide they only want to single task so they will have to write them to use the tasking services 4.0 will have. The funny thing is a lot just rewrote them so they worked on the Ipad too.

No worries starting up the GPS and throwing it in a bag for an ATV trip. :) I swear you could almost pitch the thing at a wall and it would keep it safe. LOL :)

So have people who have been preordering asked about the activation fee? I have been with Verizon for 8+ years and can't remember having to pay an activation fee when upgrading phones and the preorder email shows the "$35 activation fee"....

I just spoke with the Verizon Customer Service during lunch, trying to change the shipping address to my work address. She said the phones require an "indirect" signature, so if the area where you live is relatively safe, you can leave a note on your door for your Fed Ex delivery person to leave it on your door steps...
 
I just finished pre-ordering the hottest phone on the market. The DROID INCREDIBLE!!!

I'm a huge techie...and am sure I will have a ton of fun with this device.

I had a similar case on my Droid Eris that I turned in today at the Verizon store. While I was on my backup phone getting it activated with the Eris's phone number, the lady asked if I wanted to go ahead and preorder the Incredible. As I was doing that, I asked if I could get some accessories, so we went through that list. The case for the Eris had the item number of VZW6200HOC, and the black case for the Incredible was the same but the number was VZW6300HOC. When she checked, there were no black cases in stock and she said she couldn't put one on backorder. The Eris case was nice, sort of a soft rubber but hard enough to protect the phone case if you bump it against your seat belt or something. The belt clip rotates, but it takes some effort to do it, so it's not going to be moving around on your belt. You can slide the phone into the holster either right side up or upside down, so you can have the charging port available to charge it in the holster. The best part for me was that because the case wraps around the phone, it would keep the battery cover from ever popping off. I recommend this holster.

Its not like having a good camera on a phone is impossible. There are many phones out there that take good pictures and video. Phones from last year and the year before it have taken better video. Ohh and what was the reason for HTC to put in a 8 mega pixel camera in there. Cause people want a good camera on their phone and they are stupid enough to believe more megapixels mean a better picture.

Listening to music on a phone, let alone ipod etc, is not the BEST way to listen to it. Why do you do it? because it's convenient.

With convenience, you give up things... such as quality.

My home theater isn't up to the quality of an IMAX Theater, but... it's convenient. Am I going to complain about that? NO! I'm realistic and understand for the convenience factor, I'm giving up other things.

/end rant.

Sorry had to do it. I'm catching up on the thread and this was seriously bugging me!

This is another reason why I preordered mine online! I don't want anyone trying to "help" me with it! Just give it to me...and let me get it home and play with it...if I have questions...I'll ASK! LOL

1st post, long time creeper. I was lucky enough to order online with no problem this morning. No activation fee for my order. Just the phone and tax. Like everyone else, can't wait!

Thanks for all the info and opinions. BTW, all the unboxing vids are making me drool!

Congrats guys couldn't have happened to two more knowledgable people! Now I know this forum (the actual Droid Incredible Forum not just this thread) is gonna be THE place to come for idea and info!

I had them move mine from 7/8, and my NE2 is still good. If you check your My Verizon account, it should show being eligible for discounted pricing and the NE2.
