Help dead! :(

I got on the train to work this morning, pulled out my NoteII to text my fiancee and the horror begins... Nothing on the screen, completely black. The LED's light up, and I feel vibration, but nothing on the screen. I take out the battery, reseat everything and restart; but no joy, not even the startup sound...

Now I DID drop it yesterday, and noticed some small cracks on the screen, BUT the phone worked after that. I plugged it in to charge overnight and it made the usual noise to indicate charging.

Fortunately my carrier has agreed to replace it (orange uk) but whilst I wait for the replacement, is there anyway to wipe my personal details on the phone? Some combination of keys I can press?

FWIW, the drop yesterday was pretty minor, and onto carpet. I have dropped it from higher and onto concrete before (yes I'm a clutz...), I guess this was just an unlucky landing, but it's very odd that it worked afterwards, then apparently gave up the ghost at some point in the middle of the night...

Hello Punchdrunk. Sorry to see you damaged your Note 2. Glad to hear it's getting replaced.

Meanwhile, press three keys and hold them (making sure the power key is last to press as you hold the other two or it may try to power up): Volume up + Home + Power.

Release all three at the same instant when you see the white "..Galaxy..." letters on the screen.

Wait for the Android robot to appear then disappear leaving the blue recovery menu.

It'll be highlighted to the "reboot now" selection. Use the volume down key to navigate to the "factory data reset" (or some such wording) selection, then press the power key.

Wait for the process to complete, then the "reboot now" selection will be highlighted again, hit power.

Do not respond to any of the prompts to recover from backup or to activate or to set up Gmail, etc. Some like to pull the battery at that point, or just shut the device down.

Hi

Sorry to hear about the phone but there does seem to be some signs of life there. Assuming that the phone actually powers on but that the display is not working, there are quite a few possibilities you might like to try at the following link -
