MP3's Not Playing Right

12String

Lurker
Hey all! I'm very new here; I hope I've got this gripe in the right area. I'm a Navy retiree that got sucked into a two year contract and got a Samsung Galaxy. It runs 4.2 great. While this smart phone is quite competent, my MP3's that I've copied to the phone don't play right - i.e., for songs that have instruments and vocals, the vocal part of the track cannot be heard. This happens when I record off of my store-bought CD's and downloaded MP3's. This is maddening!! I thought the problem might be with Google's Music player so I went to a better MP3 player for my needs and got the same results. I hear half of the track no matter how I play the songs (the same thing applies to my wife's even older droid incredible... but that's a different post) - by smartphone speaker, ear buds or Bluetooth connected to my car stereo. By the way, instrumental only files play great.
Is this a limitation of the MP3 format? Is there another audio format I can tell my WiMP to record to (or look for when downloading from online sources)?
I sure hope someone here can help out or, point me in the proper direction; as I don't want to be an otherwise very unhappy camper for the next year and a half... Thanks!

What bitrate are you recording at? anything less than 128 an some players have issues playing them.

I'm going to move this over to android media as it's more a media issue than an android issue.

take one of your songs (with lyrics) to google play music and see if it plays fine on that. I never used wimp so don't know much about it.

@argedion; when you listen to tunes on your google music player that has vocals and instrumentals tracks, do you hear both channels when plugged into anything with stereo output?

yes i do infact I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan so I would notice if google play was missing something with my music. I've uploaded all my Floyd albums and they all play fine

@argedion, @bhero
Good news but, for the life of me I can't figure out what's happened...
I got to playin' around with my wife's android w/ her tunes... found buried somewhere a equalizer setting and changed it... (Verizon music app) and her tunes seemed to brighten up significantly. I Bluetooth- connected her phone to the car and, damn me, no audio loss!
For S & G's, I did the same for my phone and... dammit!... the same thing happened again - no audio loss! Even my copy of Great Gig in the Sky sounded its usual fabulous self! Go figure...
The only thing I can think of that's changed ... is the position of the stars :-\

Thanks for your replies and thoughts. BlessingS to you!!
