Root [MetroPCS/CDMA] i have a suggestion

hello to all
is it easier to make a sticky or just have the op add the post.
example all the roms that are listed here to also add the best recommended kernel. if you want to use a kernel. or when a new rom gets posted to also add the line recommended kernel to use if needed.
i don't know much about kernel but i do know you can't add a 4.1 kernel to a 4.2 rom or sense rom or tw or aosp or am i wrong. i think this will eliminate tons post asking what kernel this or that.??just my 2cents to make it easier and less ask post

that would be neat but since neither of the kernels are compiled by any of in-house devs nor are they compiled specifically for our variant the sch-r530m it would be kind of a bad idea to sticky it and recommend people to use it. i mean im not sure if u have seen countless of posts/thread with people bricking their phones and losing their nv data due to roms and kernels that were made for another variant of the gs3 such as cricket or sprint or us cellular. in conclusion if we staff members sticky anything such as a rom /mod/kernel or whatever it has to be 100% for our variant. with every issue that has been posted i think its safer just to create a normal thread with "recommendations" based on users experiences.

Yessir, I would have to agree with that. Never had a problem myself with any of the kernels here. but I would suggest that he look through the threads of our devs & try the kernels they've fixed for us or have recommended. Like the kernel in the crossbreader thread. One of our devs okayed it but it was still for vzw/usc.
That's the only reason I used it. Even if it came from someone on here for a long time, I would still check with one of our devs first. lol or even our guinea pig n4zty :D

thanks i was leaning more towards the ones already posted and verified that they do work with this rom and that rom i know it is work but makes it more easy and takes out the guess work.

Well cm is specifically for us and that it was caused the 4g loss. It's not just the others. In theory, this sounds good but it has too much potential to cause problems. I agree to leave it out

correct but thats why there hasn't been a final build yet just stable versions and nightlies. also why i dont bother using their work since i dont completely trust it since they go by bugs that are "reported" to them than rather coming to our subforum and seeing how the builds are working and if they could assist any1 in any issues they might be having. bottom line these so called roms/kernels/mods are stable for some and not for all so it wouldn't be a good idea for a staff member to put all these things under one thread and guarantee its going to work for every1. better off just a general thread with a small disclaimer to "try on own risk!" we always encourage nandroid back ups and nv backup just to be on the safeside.

lol i haven't been a guinea pig in a mad minute but when something is worth testing out i usually do my research first and pull apart what im about to flash and see what files its going to replace. if i see its going to replace system files such as framework system ui or even jar files i usually stay away from it. also any rom that isnt for the sch-r530m could include incompatible kernels and bootloaders which can guarantee an epic brick. Trust me ive never broken a phone nor bricked a phone just mostly soft bricked aka boot loops lol but with such people as shabby and a few others i've learned the dos and donts of flashing on our phones.

Here's my suggestion. Every rom thread should include a warning and link to the nv backup thread. Too many times I've seen people losing it and asking "duh what"?

yea thats the typical default way of posting a rom should be like. some people just post links from xda and are like here you guys try it out and let me know if it works.... i usually laugh when i see that but i understand every once in a while people wanna gain a brownie point or two and hope they find something worth while but its always better to find out for yourself and guide people in how to properly flash something. but either way it keeps things interesting on the forums if we all knew how to everything with our phones having this forum would be useless lol
