Help Phone dies on boot

So here's my problem.
I was listening to music on my phone, it was at 19%, I had it plugged into my laptop charging. I guess my Laptop turned off and my phone quit charging. It played music until it powered down. I woke up and tried to turn on my phone.
It didn't play any animation it was just grey and the LEDs at the bottom were on but they were fading in and out because it was struggling to get power. So I plugged it in and usually I plug it in and it goes to either "Not enough power to start" and charges, or it goes to the battery symbol to show it's charging but not on. But now it tries to turn on and it dies literally instantly after the starting animation. My phone has never done this and this isn't the first time it's powered itself down. I tried leaving it in my laptop, and right now it's plugged in turned off to a wall charger. In hopes that it's subconsciously gaining a charge.
Any solutions? I really don't have the money for a new phone/battery..

I do not know if this is much of a solution, but try pulling the battery out for a minute or so, put it back in, and then plug it into the wall a/c charger for a couple of hours without powering the phone on.

Removing the battery may clear any charging and/or boot issues. The phone will charge faster not powered on and will also charge faster on the a/c charger than from the laptop.

This is better than nothing, trying this now.

Didn't work, it started up, showed the LG logo, then the second the sprint animation started it shut off, this was after 4 hours of charging.

If you have a custom recovery: try getting into recovery and clearing the battery stats. That's worked for me when I've had battery issues. It is possible that your battery was damaged and won't hold a charge, in that case a replacement or some diy battery repair is in order.

I don't have custom recovery.. My battery wasn't damaged, it was working just fine until it died and powered itself down.

I read somewhere recently (in a Cell phone forum, I'm sure, but don't recall where) that leaving a cell phone hooked up to a laptop that powers off, like you did, can drain/damage the battery. I haven't experienced it myself but it seems plausible.

The good news is that Cell phone batteries can be found inexpensively on eBay and Amazon. Hopefully you can find one that works wIth your budget.

Otherwise you can continue to leave the phone plugged in to a wall outlet, for 12 or more hours before trying to power it on. It may not help, but can't hurt. The most difficult part will be being patient Good luck!

I'm going to tell them it's a faulty battery.. Batteries don't just break overnight. It's okay your solution didn't work, at least you tried. I'm gonna find out the problem and I'll post again in a few hours and tell you all what they said.

If you need to buy a battery buy it from Amazon you will end up with a battery better than your stock one 9 times out of 10

My mom bought a replacement battery for her my touch for 6.81 the first battery didn't work so they sent another one she said its amazing the amount of life she gets out of it now

When a device, such as a phone, is charging and the power source suddenly has its connection shorted (either due to a power outage or, in this case, a laptop dying while charging the phone), can and does in fact damage batteries from time to time with a shock and sudden loss of power. In fact, for some cellphones there is a warning of their battery of just this very instance to be careful of.

If wiping the battery stats didn't work, nor pulling the battery out and putting it back in, the battery did likely get damaged, unfortunately. It happens to the best of us, but they are fairly cheap for this device.
