Should I get a screen protector for my Galaxy S4

Does the glass come off over time?

meaning what? will it slowly start to fall off? or is it possible to take the cover off?

well, i havent had it long enough to know if it will start to fall off over time although id imagine it does not...

and, the cover can be removed but once removed, wont be able to be put back on.

Allow me to be the example. my friend was putting his cell down, to pick up mine to look at it. Mine was sitting face up on the desk. he dropped his as he went to pick up mine, and the edge of his phone, caught the edge of mine, not more than a 2 inch drop. Shattered the glass on my s4. Now I wish I had a screen protector on. :) Would of it stopped it? Cant be sure.....but...ill never know.

This David... the spigen Glas tr slim protector is really nice and as the name suggests....its made of glass, not plastic....

tempered glass protectors are an entirely different ball of wax then the typical stick on pieces of plastic you get at the Verizon store or something like that.

I just picked up an Invisishield HD for mine. WELL worth the money in my opinion can't even tell it's there. I had am iVisor on it before but I prefer this one. I somehow got a light scratch on the screen within the first 4 days with the phone so I think a screen protector is a must.

I always use the anti-glare ones from AT&T. They put them on, when I get the phone and the last 2, they have lasted the life of the phone. When I turned in my skyrocket for the upgrade, took the case and screen protector off, the phone looked brand new. I had them put another on this phone. So far, holding up, just as well.

I use to use a screen protector but why I just don't throw my device around and I don't let the kids play with it. I have never had a problem with any of my phones "but" I do up grade often

Another vote for the Spigen glasstr. Best of both worlds to me....protection with the naked feel. I've had this one since I got the sg4 at launch. Love how it keeps the fingerprints to a minimum as well! I've had other kinds of plastic screen protectors ( good ones) but don't see myself going back!

ditto on the Spigen glasstr . I just picked up the nano version. Love it. great protection, when on easy, and I love the way it feels and looks.

I've only had one screen protector on one of my android phones in the last 4 years or so... it was on for a week... I just don't like them. They are generally thick and aren't real clear. I'm a huge fan of my screen naked. (That goes for the cases too, but that's another thread...) :-)

Spend $10 to protect something worth $600. Seems like common sense to me.

never used a screen protector and never had a problem..i think a screen protector takes away the beauty of a HD screen. guess too me its not really a big deal if and when i get a scratch since i switch my phones every 3-5 months.

Considering that most of us are going to get new phones every 18-24 months I say it's not worth it. Yes, you will get tiny little hairline scratches here and there (that you can only see when the screen is turned off) but so will screen protectors.

Back in the Droid Incredible days I had a Zagg protector for a few months. It didn't feel very nice and ended up getting small tiny imperfections as well that I just ignored. If you are going to ignore the tiny imperfections on a screen protector then just ignore them on a bare screen! In my opinion, the phone is SO much better to use when the glass is bare.

I have insurance for the big hits so that I can leave my phone completely bare (no case, no screen protector). Made my experience significantly better day to day with my Droid Incredible, then my Galaxy Nexus, and now my S4.

I have used the Zagg Invisible Shield (later the HD version) on my phones for several years. I liked the feeling of protection they rendered, but I did not like the feel of it, the fact they eventually yellowed and eventually the corners would lift up.

When I got my S4 I found this one: http://www.amazon.com/ArmorSuit-MilitaryShield-Protector-Lifetime-Replacements/dp/B00BMIG4CC
IMHO it is much, much nicer than the Zagg and it's only a fraction of the price! Also has a lifetime warranty. It comes in 2 flavors: the one above is the regular one, but they also have a "case friendly" version that is slightly smaller so that a case won't push against it. This one doesn't feel "greasy" and honestly, you can hardly tell it's there.

I've dropped mine at least twice face down on the marble floor and it survived. Not that I'd recommend dropping it. I do however have a rubber case around the phone itself so that probably stops it from a direct impact.

this is an old topic and different ppl have different view. For me, I never apply screen protector, the reason is simple, I want enjoy using the phone as much as I could. If I apply screen protector, it's like buying another low quality phone. I only use the phone for around 2 years, why protect it so well.
