Root New (4.3) camera app from the GE devices

As some of you may know, the Google Edition S4 and HTC One both shipped with a new camera app included. This app can easily be installed on our phones.

Edit: the op link is down, but there are mirrors in that thread and in this one.

Simply install the apk, and if that doesn't work, go to /system/app and rename Gallery2.apk to Gallery2.apk.bak and then the installation should proceed flawlessly.

I tested it out, it works. I didn't test photosphere. Video on front camera still doesn't work if you're on cm10.

Edit: no photosphere :-(

I'm assuming you're on your phone and you're not on wifi.
Just keep trying until it downloads or put yourself on wifi and or a computer :]

It actually worked when I went to 4g data I was in WiFi earlier.. That's interesting

Did you remove the old camera app by renaming it? The pictures come out fine for me, and video records perfectly, too. I'm on cm10, though, so 1080p still has the magenta tint, and the front camera still doesn't record videos. Both of these are known bugs, though.

I'm running the lewas cyanogen motion ROM and there aren't any issues with the apk.There is no tint either on 1080p even though its bases on cm. Lol

Well that rom is based on hroark13's cm 10 beta 2 and 4g and sms doesn't work yet. Aboatright may update it with pg's base so then it may work.

Im running it on stock rom.F , i rename galary2apk n odex. Wiped cache n dalvik. Installed it n reboot it
N its wrkng fine. No sphere cus we don't hav periscope. But the galery is awesome
N if in cam or video u swipe to lefth it will take u to galery. Thnx for the upload

Well all I did was install the app and everything was working perfect.

I was just adding those notes for those in stock Rom. It may be helpful.

I'm using bobz cm10 from 5/21, and yes, panoramas work perfectly.
