Zeam - Home Replacement

I may indeed check this out. But "Zeam" is prolly a poor choice for a name...I just googled Zeam and the first link at the top was a link to a page with this text:

"Worm Zeam is a simple Internet parasite. It is written in Visual Basic Script language and comes as an attachment to e-mail messages. It sends infected messages to all addresses found in the Microsoft Outlook Address Book. The worm doesn't harm a computer."
 
I actually can only get the "Beautiful Home" widget to work. Every other Android widget (i.e.-youtube, vlingo, slacker) doesn't work for me. If I click search on the youtube widget, it does nothing.

I love the snap and look of it and the fact that it can be customized as shown by the op, but its pretty much all widgets but beautiful so far that don't work. That,s strange. Wonder what about beautiful widgets work but none others do?:( I would absolutly use this as my home if my pure widgets worked and I could remap those left and right softkeys.

Edit: I have gotten several FC's when switching to it now. Just FYI for dev if he/she listening.
 
Yeah, I have several force closes with both beautiful widgets and zeam itself when running it - I switched back to Sense for the time being.

I had the problem with widgets not working either. The battery widget from Curvefish was blank and the beautiful widgets didn't do anything. Then I restarted and they worked, although there was a lot of force closes involved.

I also noticed that after I added all of my stuff onto the screens, it would get really laggy when going from screen to screen. Far more laggy than Sense, although granted, it's hard to tell if that was the result of Zeam or the result of another app I was using. It also felt harder to swipe from one screen to another, because I'd have to hold down longer and swipe further than with Sense.

It has promise, but still needs some work I think.

On topic: Interesting-looking home alternative. I've just started playing with such in the last several days, but it's a fun way to be able to play. I keep coming back to Sense though. Might have to add this one to my experiments.
 
I like it so far...but how to you theme it. I would like to be able to do the trashcan thing and just make some of those changes...any input?

I basically open up the apk using 7zip and look in the drawable folder and open some of the pngs and modify them. I found the trashcan on google and just resized it and renamed it and put it in the apk, replacing the other one.

Then you have to learn to resign an apk. I can help you with it, but if you want to know, pm me.

You know, I didn't even check until now and no, widgets like youtube will not work. That's weird. I'll e-mail the developer if I can.

Still ridiculously fast though.
 
This thing is a speed demon, however Pure Music Widget does not work with it (I'm using 4x2). Picture frame stock android widget, and power bar widget work so far.
 
Thanks for this, very impressive. I was a big fan of Helix but this is much faster. The dialer is wicked fast (using the soft button and hard). I have everything working with Zeam...Beautiful widgets (smaller home, silent, vibrate, wifi), pure messenger (list view), pandora, "3" (cubed), smooth calendar, and youtube. No HTC widgets, which I can live with. You can customize the left and right bottom soft buttons too. Time will tell with battery life. I was able to change it to 5 screens, and you can set which screen you want as the default.
 
love this home replacement, great find. ive been looking past few days for a nice home replacement and this one is just perfect. im having no problems with the widgets so far, nothing with force close. its great.
 
I am a widget nut...have like 14 running...they all run just fine...Calendar Pad, slacker radio, pandora, youtube, music, weatherbug, digital clock, android agenda, powerbar, I had a force close with the binary clock widget...so I dropped that one, but have not had an issue with any of the others.

I used the first Zeam, and then went to Helix...just wanted to try it out..and I REALLY like the permenant buttons on the bottom of it....then the dialer lag was KILLING me..first time I experienced it (I am using 2.1v3 straight from 1.5) Then I went back to Zeam with this update...dialer is awesome..everything is awesome I really like Zeam
 
This is a really nice and fast UI, the only problem I see is when you press menu>settings it takes you to the settings for zeam. I don't see a way to get to the regular settings menu, otherwise it's great!

EDIT: If you press system settings at the top of the settings it kicks you to the stock settings menu
 
Zeam is great! By far the best home replacement ive used so far (out of pandahome, helix, and sweeter home).

Lag is pretty much gone especially on handcent.

Will post more the more I use it.

Can anyone get zeam to show up when you press the home button? Only way I can switch back and forth is going through astro to launch zeam. Not sure how to set it as default, anyone else have any insight?

EDIT: LOL, nevermind I got it. SMH

Get Home Switcher from the Market. You can easily switch home screens and set the default.
 
I had Zeam on my phone and I kept getting a force close message. Then my phone wouldn't let me go to the home screen. The only area I have access to was the dialer. That was because I can hit the talk button. I figured out by accident how to get into the settings without going to the home screen by using the voice command. I have deleted zeam from my phone.
