Official EVO Rumors and Speculation thread

Jackson as much info that you have and I have nothing to back my theory with I just can't see sprint releasing this phone through other stores before its available through them. This is their flagship phone so I think this will be released the same day for everybody, so weather thats June 6th or 13th but it will be through everybody the same day. Why would sprint want to make themself look bad by releasing it through other stores besided them first. It just makes no sense I don't remember ever doing that with any other phone before.

They did it with the Hero.

Best Buy had it a few days early for Reward Zone customers.

I remember because I went and played with it, and decided to wait for the Droid.

nah man. they always do that, like with the Hero. They give best buy inticing abilities like that because they help advertise the phone for free. Believe me it happens

just to set the record straight i am in college, ask Drex he knows bahaha

They also did this with the Touch Pro 2. There is precedence for this on previous "top of the line" phones.

Yepp June 6th as of right now is the date the Evo will be released in Best buy and such. June 13th is actual Sprint stores.

Never bought a phone from BB but I do have one question. I have always thought that 3rd party sellers only do new customers and existing customers will need to go to Sprint stores. I'm already a Sprint premier customer. Retentions said my eligibility is July but they will move that date to whenever I want to just to keep me on board. Will BB upgrade existing Sprint customers?

If Best Buy pays Sprint for exclusive launch rights, Sprint still sells the phones, gets the subs, and makes some extra cash. Same with those movies or CDs that release first in Best Buy.

I'm no fan of Best Buy but their Mobile division is pretty decent and their market clout allows them to take care of the MIR up front. I know better than to buy Geek Squad services or overpriced cables and accessories so that part doesn't affect me. I just want my Evo and I would love to skip the hassle and wait of mailing in the rebate.

If your a premier customer then you probably already got the notice if not .. then pay your bills on time cause you get a chance to win a trip, 4G's (4,000$), and the 4G itself , yes the HTC EVO early before it hits the street : Sprint | HTC EVO "Blaze across America with 4G"

It's a contest and they will only send out 10 EVO's max for those 10 people to blog and show their experience with the device . More details on it when you enter . click the link . Never know you could win . To enter just simply submit a essay saying what you can do fast . after that you may be the lucky one to handle the EVO early and blog about it and let the public rate you out of the other semi-finalist and then have a chance to win cash .

For someone that has been on Verizon for a bit, can anyone comment on which place, Sprint store, Sprint Online, or Best Buy is going to be the best place to get the EVO, for ease, price, and flexability?

Assuming a new 2 year contract would be what would be signed up for.

Thanks.

Best Buy, hands-down. Just make sure the person you're working with has a clue. Typically, you can talk them into throwing in some accessories for good deal, too.

Edit: Wow! In the time it took me to scroll down the page to check for a response and then type that, the page jumped from 105 to 106! No wonder the servers are crashing everyday...

Actually, you're not correct. Best Buy had early release of the Touch Pro and Touch Diamond when both of those phones were released (same deal, 1 week prior to being available in the stores and on Sprint.com). I'm pretty sure people said it was the same for the Palm Pre. I've heard the same for the Touch Pro 2.

Nontheless, it's happened with A LOT of phones in the past (and not even, exclusively Sprint phones).

Yes. Without a doubt. I was concerned about this before I got a Touch Pro, but upgrading at Best Buy was even easier for me than going through my corporate channels or EVP! I don't buy much from Best Buy anymore, but doing a mobile upgrade there was SO easy. AND, what's even better is, they had an additional promotion going on at that time for ANY smartphone (except the iPhone). I think it was an additional 20% off or something like that.

why would sprint release it after best buy? their were rumors about this with the pre to and turned out false. Really makes no sense for sprint to let someone else have it earlier then them if its their flag ship device. Personally I think the 6th is gonna be the roll out date for everyone and will do like like the pre last year tons at sprint stores and meager numbers at best buy. I remember the sprint store here had hundreds while best buy got 2.

I just want to express my thanks and appreciation for Supersonical and the others who have been posting accurate info about our EVO. I have a relative that works for Sprint at their HQ, and while he will not give me any inside info, he has admitted that many times I have had accurate info on the EVO before him. Can't wait to get rid of my Blackberry for a REAL smart phone.

I thought everybody would know your in college after I cleared that up, or at least i thought i did when i said you said you was 17 back on the sprint forums and clearly that would mean you doing your first year in college or still in hs . But i guess that was deleted with all the other pages and then i was like ignore the guy that has some serious issues . and continue to do your thing . and everybody else should continue doing them to .

I'm majoring in psych. and i think he should be my first patient .

anyways i hope people join that contest provided by sprint . you may be lucky

Yes my friend, yes... I've already spoken with Best buy and they've done it for my friend in the past... this would be my first year to do so, I'm not worried. Honestly, If it's at Best Buy on the 6th and then Sprint on the 13... What would be another week, we'll have all waited the 2 agonizing months as it is, another week will only help you appreciate it even more.

In my opinion Best Buy, Radio Shack, Sprint, trunk of a local burglar, it doesn't matter as long as when I pay for it they accept the rebates and I can walk out with an EVO.
