omg ALWAYS ALWAYS get insurance for a smart phone

You must have been a Pre owner as well... I swear that phone died on me ump`teen times in 5 weeks, I liked the OS but no enough to deal with the harware issues!

I traded my Pre for a Hero a week prior to Easter and I've loved almost everything about it.. Wish the games the Pre had transferred over, like NOVA and the other gameloft games, but what can you do....

tp1 owner hahaha just as bad lol

If Best Buy gets them first guaranteed they will have enough.. Thats the point in doing the pre-orders. It would be like pre-ordering a game.. They will make sure the stores get enough to cover the pre-orders and probably even send enough to cover a few extra stragglers.. Plus I think Verizon did the same thing with one of their phones..

well that didnt work here to well for sure lol but I am still in the belief espically what my sprint told me recently the 6th will be the day to bad tele sales wont have it early though I really dont wanna stand in line at a dang cell phone store.

do the math the insurance is a waste IMO.

why is it a waste? 7 dollars a month 2 years with the device 168 dollars +100 dollars if u have to replace it (and that's if you have to u can go into sprint stores and alot of times they will do it without charging the 100 bucks or even in alot of cases sprint will refund the 100 back have for me almost everytime) 168+100 everytime your phone has damage sprint wont cover for a device that is 400+ dollars sounds like a good deal to me. (assuming my math is right I got a 2 month old in my arms screaming)

June 13th, 1 month and 2 weeks.......how will you spend your time waiting?

just knowing i'm going to get the phone is good enough for me . so i'm set . i was set since it was announced last month . did you see the media android is trying to bring to the table ? you know the evo is going to take full advantage of this :-) it's in a link a posted a few post above ...... but just in case it get's bumped out the way : Android will be a streaming video powerhouse by the end of the year – Android and Me

Jackson as much info that you have and I have nothing to back my theory with I just can't see sprint releasing this phone through other stores before its available through them. This is their flagship phone so I think this will be released the same day for everybody, so weather thats June 6th or 13th but it will be through everybody the same day. Why would sprint want to make themself look bad by releasing it through other stores besided them first. It just makes no sense I don't remember ever doing that with any other phone before.

I in fact got my Hero from Best Buy (thru pre-order) before it was available at Sprint stores. I do not honestly remember if it was a matter of days or a week, but it was absolutly early.

and we got our hero via tele sales about 2 weeks before best buy gets them and the hero isnt a flagship phone. and funny store after we got it the next day in the mail we went to sprint to change over contacts from the pre and they hadn't even got the training material on the hero

yeah ajac tele sales is the way to go, you can get phones way before anyone else

well not with flagship phones tried HARD last year and the year before even told a girl id take her out for an instinct haha dang got slapped by the wife for that one but tele sales is fickle. Hero moment and touch pro 2 available weeks before they were even offically annouced but I guess that flagship phones for ya. I wonder how many evo's will be ready my guess about 200k.

yeah what was your avatar during Pre? some dude with a crew cut with his arms raised in anger/frustration?
OH, that one. The 80x80 size is too small here for that.

What am I, chopped liver? :)

Good news. Voice over 4G might be ready by launch!!! Testing is looking that good.

Oops! I feel terrible! Of course we need to thank seniormatt and Self Praise!

Nice video on the HD2 getting eaten by traffic.... take that T-Mobile, Sprint 2010. Anyway my HTC Mogul has been dropped crushed sat on dropped in water, and even fell off a car and still powered on and is working. Ever since that HTC is my company of choice.

As for the Sprint phone insurance given what I said above I think its totally worth it. If your phone breaks after the 1 year warranty the TEP takes over and its either $100 for a refurbed phone or they fix it in the shop. Best $7 investment per month for me. My buddy on ATT broke his phone and got stuck paying another $300 for the Iphone because they wont insure it. At least Sprint covers all there phones.

I pay $84 to have my phone replaced no questions asked for a year. Sounds fine to me. I've already done this with my Pre and essentially paid the $84 (although it's not been a year) plus the $100 deductible. I don't mind paying $184 for a brand new phone when a new one would cost $400-600. I definitely don't mind now that I work for a place that nets me a 14% discount. Over a year of paying $130/month for a family plan, I would pay $1560. With the discount, I pay $1341 for a savings of $219. Insurance on two phones is $168 for a year so my discount more than pays for the insurance.

I also remember BB released the Hero a few days BEFORE the scheduled day. It was supposed to be a sunday but they released them on the Thursday or Friday before.

If you're a premier customer after a year you can get a new phone. or as someone said a day or so ago add it to your homeowners or renters insurance policy

Ok? Lets see here. $7x 24 months is...168. 168+500 bucks=$668

Current price for bb tour is 200 bucks. But will decrease in price.

So first tour was 400 bucks, second, 300, third 200, fourth 100, 5th 50.

So that is 400+300+200+100+50.

That equals 1050 dollars. so over two years I save $382.

Not bad. Considering.

But let us look at one year. 7x12=84 bucks.

replace phone 3 times=384 bucks.
Price on ebay of a new phone=400 bucks.

So I can replace my phone 3 times for the price of one new phone.

And it does not matter what I do to it.

Lost, stolen, destroyed, water, do not have to worry.

Phones are tools. They are not babies. You do not cuddle them, you use them.

If the tool brakes, you get a new one.

The insurance allows you to get 3 phones a year for the cost of just one.

But the terrible lie of me is that I break things. That is what I do. Nothing last with me.

I know about the home owners insurance. But the home owners insurance will adjust with each use. So if you claim your phone, your home, car, and any other property insurance will go up. Most times higher then the cost of the new phone.

Bottom line. It insurance was not free for me. I would still pay for it.

The other thing that I have noticed. The repair center is more likely to replace your phone with a new one for free if you have the insurance then if you do not.

I was playing baseball last weekend. I had my cellphone in my coat pocket on a bench. The pitcher, if you can call him that, throw a ball right at my coat.

It hit my cellphone dead on. I went to the repair shop. They looked at the phone. Sent it back the repair guy.

About 5 mins later the pronounced it dead. 5 mins later, they handed me a new phone. And I walked out the door.

Total charge, zero bucks. Why, because I bought the full insurance. They had a refurbished one in store. I was good. If they did not have one in store. They would have charged me 100 bucks to replace the phone. With most smartphone insurance makes sense.

You can usually insure your phone through your home or car insurance provider. you may have to talk to a couple of agents until you get a knowledgeable one. It is usually between $35 or $50 per year and the will send you a check for the retail value of the phone, lost, damaged, or stolen. I believe if it stolen you need a police report but that is the same even through the carrier.
