Root [KERNEL] MiRaGe - for HTC stock ICS ROM - 3.0.101 - 10222013

I notice a improvement over the last build. I think ill hold on to the EVO V until S3 gets cheap and you switch over :)

Well don't wait for me. When I spend so much time and effort on a device, I start feeling attached to it. :p

I also like the latest build; it feels quicker. Check the battery life as well. I don't like making easy/false claims but there seems to be improvement with battery drain especially while using the phone.

Thank you, mrg666, for your continued development on and excellent support for this phone, which I enjoy using and plan to hang on to for as long as possible. Much appreciated. Best regards!

I'm noticing slower battery drain ! Can't believe its still getting better every build

I have uploaded the final build of MiRaGe kernel with the following changes.
- Linux 3.0.88 patch merged
- dual-core simplification for mpdecision

As I have indicated with the previous build announcement, I will be working on this kernel in maintenance mode from now on.

There is a GSM version for stock ICS ROM in the works after the request by several EVO-3D-GSM forum members and the test build has been distributed via PM. I will only complete the GSM version but it will not involve adding any new features.

Enjoy!

Just flashed the 88 kernel. I can't really test it because I am outside the VM service area making my phone WiFi only. MRG, I look forward to seeing you working on JB. So far none of the JB roms have been satisfying.

Thanks, Ron. I am curious about your battery/performance feedback when you have enough testing.

Regarding JB ROM, I am working on it. There are some problems regarding battery life and camera that needs to be fixed. Also, wimax and 3D are sore points. I am working on it but I frequently needed the phone in stable working condition 24 hrs in the last several weeks I couldn't do much testing with JB.

On the other hand, the stock ROM I use right now is setting the bar so high with the following additions.

- Holo Launcher HD
- Power Toggles
- SRS Audio Effects
- Sense 5 skin
- EX Dialer
- Chrome browser
- Google Play Music
- Google Calendar
- Google keyboard
- 4ext updater

Mirage I miss you and your kernel. Im working on a kernel for my new phone. If you'd like to take a peek let me know :) github.com/xstefen but i havent synced it up yet. the VaeVic kernel on there isOCable to 2.5GHZ stable from 1.2, INSANE. :)

Victory has a very nice processor. I am not surprised that it goes above 2 GHz. Since our 45nm 8660 goes to 1.7 comfortably, 28m 8960 could easily hit above 2 GHz. There are many nice msm8960 kernel repositories from franco, showp1984, faux123. Check them out. Feel free to get commits from my repo too.

The commits are too big for now and there are .o or .symvers files in them (those are products of compile process, should not be included in a source repository). So it is a little bit difficult to follow up. I think you will clean up at some point and I will check again.

Welcome to kernel development :)

Thanks man! Yeah its not my repo but it's all this phone has now. So I'm trying to step my dev game up. Major delima is an upgraded 3.4 kernel so we can port android 4.2 or what my goal is, aosp 4.3

You Sir are the $h1t!!! :-) Nice updates! I'm thinking of branching this on GitHub soon. Your decision on killing mpdecision was very crucial in performance thank you. A very classic movie quote: "We are not worthy!!" :-p

Ah power toggles ... Just what I was looking for, thanks!
What is Sense 5 skin? Downloaded but didn't install yet. I'm still s-on but running your (amazing) kernel.

After installing the skin, you will need to go to settings>personalization and choose the skin you have installed. It will change the GUI widgets with the ones similar to Sense 5.

Thanks for the compliment (it was, right?) :) Mpdecision was removed initially but it is revised and included in the final build again. Now, it really works to save battery.

is it possible, i still have this phone too

I just meant that if I had, I would have developed the kernel. But I don't have a GS3.

So far rock stable on the 7/28 build. Running at 1.512GHz, better battery life than with the stock ROM at 1.18ghz. T

Thank you so much for your hard work! Do you do software development for a living?

My phone is capable of running at 1.728 and the battery life is still much better than 1.18 with stock kernel. Give a try to 1.728.

I have mainly done software development professionally for technical computing and 3D graphics. Kernel/Android development is a hobby .... yet.

.

Yes haha :-) Maybe I should have been more PC & said "You're the bees knees when it comes to Kernels". +1 to fixing Mpdecision . Here is a question you might know the answer to. When using any ICS rom + Stock ICS & running SixAxis app I can not get my dual shock to pair. With any JB rom it will pair flawless; however I loose MHL due to JB. I'm thinking its the bluetooth module...bcm4329.ko? I just wanna know if I'm on the right track before I start to soft brick my roms lol

Bcm4329.KO is WiFi driver. Bluetooth driver is inside the kernel it is not modular. I am not sure if the ps3 controller needs a special device driver or it works as a generic hid device. I will check and post here.

I'll give 1.728 a try for a few days. I did eventually experience some instability on the 7/13 build at 1.7ghz, dropping it to 1.5 made it completely stable so I thought maybe my cpu can't handle it.

Your work on kernel development has the quality of a professional, revising mpdecisions code seems pretty complicated! Your work would make a great resume to Google or an android device OEM... In my completely amateur opinion anyways.

If 1.7 was unstable earlier than don't expect anything different this time. 1.5 is more than enough for every purpose.

Thanks for the encouragement!
