Root Recovery without factory reset on cm10 builds

Not sure how many knew this as I just recently found out. If you brick your phone and get into recovery from the hard side by using the power button then tap the volume rockers up or down method instead of the traditional way of getting into recovery it will not factory reset and you can restore data.. Like I said some may have known this but some may not..

EDIT:
For those that just don't get it as the title states.."recovery without factory reset ON cm10" not FOR cm10 or not NEW RECOVERY on cm10.

USING THIS METHOD WILL TAKE YOU INTO 2ND INIT ITS NOT A WAY OF GETTING REAL RECOVERY WITHOUT FACTORY RESET( I KNOW BOO HOO) ... BUT GUESS WHAT YOU DONT NEED TO.. BY USING THIS METHOD AFTER A BRICK YOU WON'T LOSE DATA ON THE INTERNAL SD AND YOU CAN FULLY RESTORE A BACKUP.

Yep, posted that on PG's thread ;)
Unless you're talking about the TWRP and CWM recoveries that candoopa made.
In which case there would be no reason for using those because then.
You'd still be using the 2nd init recovery :p

that just takes me to 2ndinit

Yep like i said, then it would be pointless because it still takes you to 2nd init.
But I think he was saying this because on PG's latest build it factory resets instead of going into recovery, which can be easily bypassed by powering off and on and just smashing the volume buttons :)

Exactly that's the way of getting out of factory reset. If you use the other way it takes you to the lokid recovery which will factory reset.

That's only on PG's build, and only if you have TWRP or CWM from candoopa, if not. Going into recovery would just factory reset, and that's it :p
So this is basically just a thread for going into 2nd init without using the CM10 power menu.

Nope I'm on bobz 5/21 I recently bricked I powered on released..tapped the volume down and it went into 2nd init and restored everything..

Oh okay, so basically the same thing with one less button :) :p

I suggest changing the thread name so you don't get other people confused by making them think that now you can have one of the other recoveries without factory resets ;)

All I'm saying is if you just use this method instead you don't need to use real recovery to unbrick and you don't factory reset this way.. If you go into real recovery and restore you can't restore data so you have to reboot then restore. This just takes the pain in the ass out of the process and you don't lose data you had on your internal sd. The thread states exactly what it is " a way into recovery without factory reset on cm10 builds"

I guess so. I myself have never had to deal with something like that though, but if you found this out on your own and helped you, that's great!
Still, when I saw this thread I got pretty excited to think that we could finally have custom recovery without factory reset nor sd ext partitioning, so I suggest to just change it to say into 2nd-init recovery without factory reset.
Just to not confuse people :D

If you just read it word for word without assuming it says more, it is what it is. A lot of people around here brick from time to time so this way if they're on cm10 and didn't know that they didn't have to deal with the hassle of losing what they may have just downloaded or going through the whole process of restoring a backup from real recovery they do now. Plus changing the title only sticks within the thread not the thread board.

True, I think I might have made you feel offended on accident because maybe you think I was trying to say that you said something fake, and sorry for that.
I just got out of church and that's why I replied a bit late, but yeah, I mean, even if they are confused, they can just read a few words of some posts and just get what you were trying to do.
My bad :)
