Root How?

I'm quite unsure what to do if I **** up a ROM or port installation. I've always did the KDZ and re root, there must be an easier way is there? Maybe via recovery and backing up and formatting /system?

i use lokid recovery and just flash bobz from there and then goto 2ndinit and restore.

Well at the moment I'm on Bobz as you know, is there anyway to like...uninstall a port without losing anything?
EDIT: without having to go through the whole set up process and app installation etcetera

install recovery 6.0.2.7 from neeshers multitool then backup any data in pictures, music or downloads folder etc... then go into 2nd init 6.0.2.7 and goto mounts and storage and format /sdcard. thats the internal sd. that should fix your backlight issue. works for me anyway. it leaves /data intact

Hmm have to try it sometime, the backlight is very iffy. Sometimes It'll go off on lock and sometimes it'll have to be locked twice
