Unable to receive mms msgs from iPhones.

I can receive mms from other phones, and I can even send mms to iphones, but I can not receive mms from iPhones.

Thoughts?

Please tell me I'm not alone in this issue

iPhones coded their mms messages in a specific manor that android didn't natively support. I think the functionality was added in 4.2, but it might have been 4.1. So if you're running an older version of android, that would be the cause.

I'm using 4.1. But even when I had ginger bread (2.?) on a different phone, I could receive mms msgs from the fruit phones.

Its got to be something else

any other options that anyone knows of?

I really just want to stick with the stock rom and just have root access (my current configuration)

i've had great success with using go sms chomp sms messaging apps. they often will do things that the stock messaging app wont. give it a try, wont hurt (both are free)

I'm using go sms. Still not working. I've pretty much resolved to have my iPhone sheeple friends just email me mms msgs.

HAS ANYBODY ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM? ! Or am I just lucky?

I don't think I've ever had anyone with a iPhone send me a picture message. I have gotten regular SMS texts from iPhones just fine.

I have gotten MMS from other android and blackberry users just fine. The only people I know that have an iPhone have never sent a MMS. I may have to ask them to try it.

my wife sends my MMS from her iPhone at least once a week and it goes through fine. I'm running stock 4.1.2 rooted.

The fix I've heard is, the apple user needs to specify how messages are sent on a per contact basis (ios assumes the world is on ios). Have your fruity friends go into their contact settings for you and change the sms/mms settings for you...

Hope that helps :)

Fruity friends, LOL

I like to call them iSheep

It would be just like Apple to assume all phones that get MMS messages are iPhones, even though I could do MMS before there was an iPhone..

Please let the community know if any of our suggestions helped or resolved your issue.

All for one and one for all, and all that jazz!

jhawkkw seems to have the jazz part covered :)

Sorry, haven't been on the forums for a little bit

I'm going to have to get a hold of my friends cell to try and change those settings myself. When I explained it to her she couldn't figure out what I was talking about. Hopefully I'll be able to do it by this weekend.

off topic - has anyone else noticed that a lot of Iphone users seem clueless to anything phone related?

That is one reason I refer to them as iSheep. There are some that do know their stuff, but the vast majority I have encountered have no clue how their tech toy works.

Tell An Android user to do something like pushing a file to system/app and they will do it or at least ask how. Tell something like that to many Apple users and you get a blank stare or the, "could you do it for me?" response.

Just wanted to update on this: about a month ago I noticed MMS were coming in from Iphones (and all others as well). I did not make any changes, it just started "working"....?

Overall, this has been a weird problem, but it seems to be fixed now.

The problem was never with your device in the first place. If you were receiving MMS messages from anyone then your settings were correct.
