I also bought an Incredible.

No ETF if you return it within 30 days. You WILL have to pay for your monthly service and there WILL be a $35 restocking fee for returning the device.

But thats it.

I plan on using it for 30 days, going to Best Buy, buying a Hero, porting my number, use it for a week or 2, pay another restocking fee and return it for the EVO.

I'm a woman and I CAN'T WAIT to get an EVO! I love having the latest and greatest in cell phones! My family always teases me about getting new phones all the time.

Does anyone know if I return the phone within the "trial period" at VZW, will they still charge an ETF?

You do not have to pay an ETF if you cancel within their trial period which is 30 days I believe. However, your activation charge is non refundable and you still have to pay for the period that you use their service pro rated + any tax of course.

I can't even explain the amount of times I've been laughed at about getting new phones, I've been called a phone whore more times than I can count.

Also, its pissed off just about every girl I've ever been with.

But technology is something I am passionate about, along with sports. But at least to our advantage, society is trending towards becoming more like us.

Engadget is one of the most viewed websites a day.

At least screens and buttons get people more excited than they used to, I've been like this since I was a 2 year old. Sega Genesis was my first toy. I've never looked back.

Got this today...perhaps a 30-day spin with the Incredible to pass the time until the EVO?

I know this question has been answered (somewhat) in the forums here, but my search has proved to be futile.

Yeah I just found the same info:

Return Policy - Verizon Wireless

Right now I'm 50/50 on doing it. If I do...I'm not gonna port any numbers though. I'm gonna continue to keep my Sprint account open and just use that phone for calling. The Incredible will stay at home (so it's in like new condition when I return it) just so I can play with Sense, the apps, etc.

would be nice if sprint or whatever store you get it from fully charges the battery from the day before so we don't have to wait to use it when we purchase it.

Might be easier than you think if someone makes an FM transmitter app which shouldn't be hard.

I've got to start by saying that I've never used Sirius but with an engineering background I don't see any connection between the EVO with it's FM broadcast receiver capabilities and somehow getting Sirius satellite radio? Did I misunderstand something?

Now I believe that Sirius offered or still offers the ability to listen to streamed audio over the internet for a fee. If that is still the case then an android app could be written for receiving streaming audio from Sirius.

I think he means FM transmitters that bridge the gap between audio devices and car stereos.

He just said he wouldn't need to buy a satellite receiver if he could find a way to connect his phone to the car so he would have his output play through the car's speakers and thus it might save him some money. I said it may be simpler than he thought if someone would develop an FM transmitter. The idea was completely ignoring the idea of satellite for a direct line through his car speakers. Mind you there are simpler methods like a cable but maybe he doesn't have a connector and doesn't want to hack a hole in his car, I simply said it might be easier if someone developed an FM transmitter app.

FM transmitters for MP3 players have been around for a while now. Just do a quick Google on "mp3 player fm transmitter." Plug that into the Evo via the headphone jack and you're in business!

Last year I found out about the Pre in January and was very excited about it. I ended up at precentral and knew the ins and outs of the phone and how to use it before it even came out. I am loving reading the forums here, but I haven't seen anything as informative as what I saw for the Pre. I am completely new to HTC, Android,& Sense and although I know I will be able to figure it out, I like that I knew exactly what to do with the Pre ahead of time. Is that kind of information already available for the EVO? If not, is the info just not available yet OR is it not being put out here like it was for the Pre because Android and Sense aren't new? Can anyone give me some guidance on where to get that kind of info?

TIA!
:D

I'd be interested in this as well.

Use the Incredible for a couple of days and not pay anything and return it on day 25 or something.
They will not charge an ETF but you will have to pay a prorated bill for the time you had it.

Well Sprint hasn't released any pre-release units to the usual media outlets and I doubt they will til the launch party on the 12th. With a device this big and the impact it could have on the company and the marketplace, you can see why they could be a bit skidderish about letting the phone out in the wild.

You are right in that the difference between the Pre vs the Evo is that WebOS was brand new, whereas AndroidOS has been around for several years.

Do some searches on Android OS with keywords like "beginners guide" and/or maybe track down a User Manual PDF to another Android phone that features the Sense UI and read through that.

Bill -
I don't have proof, but I can say with complete certainty that the 65k colors listed for the screen was carried over from the specs of the HD2 since it has the same screen, but that device having 65k colors is a limitation of windows mobile, not the screen itself. There is no inherent limit like that for a tft lcd, and since android supports millions of colors, I'm assuming the spec will be the same as the motorola droid which has a tft lcd, which is 16 million colors. Also, looks like you forgot to include the 8gb internal storage along with the 1gb rom and 8gb sd card. Good work, otherwise!
