Ads for the Hero?

Has anyone else noticed the complete lack of tv ads for the Hero? If I hadn't been specifically googling for an android phone I wouldn't know it existed. I see that commercial with Whoopi Goldberg for the MyTouch about ten times a night but never any love for the Hero.

yes but the mytouch has been out. I'm sure they will advertise it once its released

Maybe Sprint is a little gun shy after the debacle that was the Pre. Let's face it they hyped the hell out of the Pre and it pretty much failed for them.

The real failure was the Instinct, but I dont think thats why they are not advertizing.

They are busy spreading the word about Any Mobile Anytime. Plus, they have not even launched the Hero yet. Personally I think it would have helped hype the phone, but it could be they dont want to advertise for something they cant even sell yet. So wait until they have the product in hand and can proudly display it and showcase it, because really, not everyones as into mobiles as we are.

A one minute commercial couldnt do the Hero justice, but couple that with an in store display model and you might just start a buzz.

While the real failure was the Instinct the Pre failed also, not as big but still failed.

They hyped the hell out of the Pre prior to launch, sold out of the Pre quickly. And then they saw a huge return rate.

Not gonna argue that one bit, but at least they didnt try calling it an iPhone killer. :D

That said, Im going to say they will have far fewer returns with the Hero.

No they left the iPhone killer tag to those who have reviewed the phone.

I think they'll see fewer returns also. Android appears to have a good track record, the only glitch I can see coming is possibly from the Sense UI

If you had a set budget would you spend it on something that works on all your phones and is something the competition doesn't have (Any Mobile Anytime) or would you spend it on a single phone?

Sprint launched/announced four new smartphones. Why pick one over the other?

Sprint isn't going to win customers by plan alone.

Unfortunately for Sprint along with the poor reputation in other areas they have a poor rep when it comes to phone selection. If they truly want to increase their customer base they should be advertising all segments of their business.

Up until VZW announced their foray into Android I knew a lot of Verizon customers jumping ship for the Sprint Hero.

Are you asking which phone I am picking and why? If you are here is your answer.

I'm picking the htc hero because I've been waiting for android since it was released a year ago.

Then why hero instead of the q? Well because I feel htc makes the absolute best smartphones out there hands down

I went into the Sprint store tonight and got to try out a Hero. It was soooo nice. It felt great in the hand and it ran really smooth. The on-screen is gonna take a little getting used to. Then a guy came in asking about the Pre and the salesgirl started talking about how it was competing with the Iphone and how great it was. When I took the Hero back up to her the only thing she had to say about it was that it "ran like an HTC" and that it was laggy. That was not my experience at all. I told her I didn't care, I was getting one any. :D

See that's why I didn't let the Best Buy girl sell me the phone tonight. I couldn't sleep knowing she got fired for selling me the phone 2 days early.

She was also trying to sell a device (which is her job), and a device that they currently had in stock and/or was available. So of course she's gonna go on about how great the Pre is, so she can sell one. I bet her discrediting of it when you took it back up to her was her way of getting the potential customer to not sway away from the Pre to wait for the Hero.

I must just live in the wrong area. The Sprint store I went to followed the rules and wouldnt let me see it.
