Root [Sprint/Cricket] Reset question

I have a simple question. Not that I'd want to do this but what would happen if I chose to factory reset my phone while on a custom rom? Would it just reset the rom or actually screw the whole phone? Just wondering. I know that if you're a regular stock user that it will just reset the whole phone back to normal.

Assuming you're doing it from recovery...

Factory reset wipes your /data, /cache and /dalvik cache.

Nothing more, nothing less

Your ROM is inside of /system, and your kernel is inside of /boot. Those won't be touched

I mean when I'm in my settings (not recovery or anywhere else) and I just hit factory reset.

from settings it just trigger sit to reboot to recovery to reset.
